My retro-style Black Templar Castellan is now down, with some nice photos taken in my lightbox instead of with my phone camera. I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out, especially as I tried to replicate the appearance on the famous piece of John Blanche artwork that he was inspired by.

A Black Templar Castellan. A figured encased in bulky, jet-black power armor, stands with one foot perched upon a stone on a bleached desert. Their armor is adorned with ornate gold trim and their pauldrons are the color of bone. Each pauldron is carved into the visage of grinning skulls. Their left hand wields a massive axe, its head black with the cutting edges a patinaed steel. Its haft is red with golden studs and a steel cable hangs from the bottom of the handle, snaking to the figure's back. In their left hand, they wield a large red rifle with an under-slung flame thrower. Across their barrel-shaped chest armor cross red straps that hold in place a brass grill. Today I met with folks at the local painting club and started work on my Castellan. I painted him a while ago with Contrasts, but hated it. After the fun I had painting in a retro style, I figured I'd give it a shot on this model.

Looking for inspiration for what to paint today I had a look in my boxes of old minatures and found this guy from around 1995. The base tab says Marauder, but I'm pretty sure he's a plaguebearer, just before they had that name.
