"Fish Heads" is a #noveltySong by #comedyRock duo #BarnesAndBarnes, released as a single in 1978 and later featured on their 1980 album #Voobaha. It is the most requested song on the #DrDemento radio show, and a #musicVideo for the song made in 1980 was in regular rotation on #MTV. The song was featured on Barnes & Barnes' 1982 Fish Heads (Greatest Hits) 12-inch on #RhinoRecords. The duo was formed in 1970 by actor #BillMumy.

Random Observation: Amazing how many old 80's major hits are now credited to Rhino on the YouTube 80's video channel (probably due to their sale to Warner years ago). My first exposure to Rhino was a novelty record company on LP in the 1980's. #RhinoRecords

One of my favorite comps. On Rhino Records, so of course it’s rad! 🤩

I picked this up in the summer of 1984 when I started buying my own records and noticed that it had a really cool song I had just heard but didn’t know the band. “Helium Bar” by The Weirdos!

I figured if The Runaways and Quiet Riot were on a comp with The Weirdos, I’d probably like the rest of the bands. And I did!

Lots of good power pop, including the opening track from an underrated LA band called The Pop! who sound like The Cars.

The highlight for me is this power pop version of an otherwise dreary and downbeat P.F. Sloan song called “Where Were You When I Needed You”, done originally by the late 60s band The Grass Roots, but punched up and energized here by The Twisters. 👇
