Question for people who use #rkhunter on #FreeBSD:

Wait, first a prelude: The out-of-the-box defaults are so nice, just turn it on in periodical and you get daily reports that are actually meaningful and easy to understand.

Okay,the question: Given that it's still extremely verbose, pages and pages and pages of checks that have passed, what does an alert look like?

Do I have to scroll down all the way to read the exact same unchanging wall of text every day, on every host, for months and months, to have any hope of spotting the word "Failed" on line 2760 one day? Or does it make a bit of noise, put something in all caps at the top of the email, something that I'm likely to notice through the banner blindness?

Accessibility Focus ♿️🖥️

Accessibility heavily influences my choices—I use a screen reader full-time (#ScreenReader), so I prioritize services usable without sight (#InclusiveDesign, #DigitalAccessibility). Always open to discussing accessibility experiences or recommendations!

I've also experimented with:

Ollama (#Ollama): Not enough RAM on my Pi.
Habit trackers like Beaver Habit Tracker (#HabitTracking): Accessibility issues made it unusable for me.

I don't really have a media collection, so no Plex or Jellyfin here (#MediaServer)—but I'm always open to suggestions! I've gotten a bit addicted to exploring new self-hosted services! 😄

As the original author of #rkhunter it is a sad thing to see that the current maintainers had not enough time to manage the project. I am considering some options to see if we can start up the project or create a new one.

Original author of #rkhunter and #lynis, working for CISOfy, blogging at https://linux-audit.com about #Linux #security topics and doing talks.

My aim is to use as much #opensource as possible, and to contribute to it. Where "#open" is possible, I use it. Trying to limit #bigtech, but consciously using it.

I do some #volunteering, like @nluug and at school.

In my spare time I like DIY stuff, renovating our house, working in the #garden.
