A view of 30 Rockefeller Plaza on a cloudy day. The photo is taken from a vantage point near the building's base, less than a block away from the southeastern corner, so the view is necessarily somewhat foreshortened. The tower rises high into the sky, with Art Deco detailing in vertical-line motifs that accentuate the building's height and the perspective view. It also has some staircase-like setbacks as it climbs.

Another view of the same building, taken from a little bit to the right of the previous photo. Where that photo showcased one of the broad, flat sides of the building (sort of like the monolith in 2001), this view is more from one of the corners. One of the long sides is still pretty visible, but now one of the short sides is also in good view. It's all still pretty foreshortened, and the vertical lines of the Art Deco façade still accentuate the rise and the perspective.

Part of why I almost forgot to post the Wednesday meme is that I had to run an errand. While I was going out and in, I took these pics.

The entrance to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, facing the plaza itself (i.e., not the one facing 6th Avenue). It's a monumental entryway in Art Deco style, set into a façade of light-grey slate. The entryway is much taller than it is wide, and its frame has vertical segments that stretch upward, suggesting lofty aspirations.

At the top, above a grid of glass panes that has a snazzy golden curve arcing through it, there is a divine figure of some sort, sculpted out of what looks to be well-buffed concrete. He has a large beard with some kind of extra parts swooshing off to the right. He's reaching downward, and twin rays of golden light are blasting out of his outstretched hand, across some writing on a brass plaque beneath him.

A more close-up shot of the frieze of the godlike figure from the previous pic. This makes it easier to see that he's wearing a golden crown on his head, and he's surrounded by clouds edged in nifty, golden, Art Deco lines and curves. The writing on the plaque that he's shooting golden light around says, "wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times."
