I am so thrilled that BBC Radio 4 is broadcasting a new series of 'Conversations from a Long Marriage' with Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam. Jan Etherington's writing is brilliantly funny.
My favourite line from this evening's episode is when Joanna Lumley's character complains about having to go on a cruise because she's afraid she'll encounter 'Margo and Jerry from Surbiton'.

Finished listening to that 2002 radio adaptation of "The Idiot." Absolutely smashed my heart into pieces, but my Gods it's extraordinarily beautiful and breathtakingly compassionate. I never stopped caring desperately about all the main characters, including the horrible ones. Really am going to have to read some Dostoevsky. I've been listening to a pair of Noel Coward short plays adapted for radio (back in 2000 or so) this evening. One I heartily disliked; the other I'm actually very charmed by but it's still... very Noel Coward, and I do seem to have to take even the Coward plays I like in rather small doses. Even, as in this case, when it has the mighty Roger Allam in the cast *and* he's singing. ;-) #NoelCoward #RogerAllam
