Dam, spoke too soon. This #thinkpad #P70 running #Win11 #LTSC decided to shit the bed overnight. I was using it last night to organize #ROMs, closed lid should have hibernated. Tried to start it up today, get #BIOS test screen and then a quick flash of text, then a black screen. Tried booting into advanced recovery mode, unable to get it to work with the holding the power button 3x, so I try to boot with my win11 LTSC install USB and get the same black screen....

I picked this up a few months back. Intel xeon i7 2.66 with 64 GB RAM, primary storage is a Samsung M2 which is showing up in the boot BIOS and as a boot-able device in the BIOS.

As posted previously, I was having some weird USB issues over the weekend when I was moving ROM collection file to external SSDs for archiving, but I had attributed to the #SSD in the external #USB sleds that was/has now failed. Man, it would bite of the controller chips on this #motherboard are failing.
Thankfully I had already moved all my job hunting notes & stuff to a different laptop, but all the ROM and #hakchi2 stuff is on this #laptop

Just in case, I started the #Lenovo diag mode to confirm hardware was ok when the battery died (I swear I had it plugged in). Now this POS will not even go into Diag mode.

Any thoughts on next steps for getting this Thinkpad booting again?

Any chance I can take the storage out of this and put it in a comparable P70 I have? and it will boot & let me log in?

I am a recent convert to a modded #SNES (thank you fellow #veteran and retro gaming community member) passed along to me, and been playing the hell out of the games that he passed along for "offsite #backup /#archival storage". I started looking for other ROMs for other games that I have, found some ROM packs, imported into #Hakchi2. Now I have a ton of ROMs but soooo many duplicates. I looked though the options/capabilities within Hakchi2 but I'm not seeing anything for detecting & purging #duplicates detect which ones do or do not have art, and other characteristics to help filter duplicates.

Am I missing something, or is this a manual process for cultivating your ROMs? Seems my limited understanding & experience with ROM sets created the mess I am trying to get my head wrapped around. As a casual gamer, I was looking to explore the different games that I never got to experience in the heyday; not sure what pre-made sets would be of benefit TBH.

So OMG down the #rathole I went - found the dat-o-matic and am getting the DAT file imported into #ROMcenter... I found a couple of decent vids on youtube that has me on a hopefully good path on getting these sorted, along with using universal ROM Cleaner as well as #ROMcenter. But I ended up spending all my time last night working on this rather than applying for jobs. 🤦‍♂️

Also that 1TB SSD in the laptop's data drive is now almost full with #ROMs & #ROM packs, so I have to get things filtered and deleted out.

Anyone else wrangled this challenge to success?

Every time I reboot the phone with #GrapheneOS, I see a big #Google logo. The half of preinstalled apps are from Google. The logo on the back is "G". So, try other custom #ROMs (maybe #murena / #eOS) or #Postmarket / #Mobian for being truly #deGoogled , not GrapheneOS. #DeGoogle

Tras unas semanas de probar las roms que me han venido con la anbernic voy a quitar bastantes de PS2 y Dreamcast que vienen en chino y japonés, de PSP he sustituido y cambiado y añadido alguna también.

Recomendadme juegos de PS2 y DC ya que no tengo mucho conocimiento de sus catálogos.

RPGs y estrategia por turnos principalmente y si están en castellano mejor. También alguno de deportes, carreras y arcades clásicos en general.

On les a oubliés de l’histoire. Pourtant, ils furent la deuxième population européenne exterminée par les nazis après les Juifs. Entre 200 000 et 500 000 Roms, Cintis et autres groupes Tsiganes ont été tués. Ritchy Thibault, membre du collectif ZOR, rappelle que « les persécutions subies par cette communauté sont innommables et innombrables », et souligne l’importance d’une date : « dans la nuit du 2 au 3 août 1944, les nazis ont liquidé le camp des familles d’Auschwitz-Birkenau. » Le collectif milite pour que cette date devienne jour de commémoration nationale, afin de « reconnaître la responsabilité de la France dans ce génocide et encourager le travail historique pour quantifier les victimes ».
L’histoire française de l’antitsiganisme est longue et complexe. Selon Thibault, « la République française porte une responsabilité immense, ne serait-ce que par la législation antiigane mise en place durant plusieurs décennies ». Le 2 août 1944, plus de 4 300 hommes, femmes et enfants de toute l’Europe ont été exterminés dans le camp des familles de Birkenau, un massacre « à l’échelle industrielle ». Depuis 2015, cette date est commémorée dans de nombreux pays, mais « la France persiste à ne pas reconnaître cette histoire ».
L’anticiganisme reste violent et institutionnalisé. L’affaire Villeron en est l’illustration : « Deux cents personnes, armées de pierres et de bouteilles, ont attaqué des familles Tsiganes, qui ont été terrorisées et contraintes de fuir. Et pourtant, les assaillants ont été relaxés, tandis que les familles victimes ont dû payer leurs frais de justice. » La violence peut aller jusqu’au crime : Angela Rostache, enceinte de sept mois, a été assassinée. Thibault commente : « Le fait de tuer une femme enceinte montre la volonté de faire disparaître de la société les personnes romanies et voyageuses. »
Pour le collectif ZOR, la reconnaissance du génocide est essentielle. Elle permettrait que « la valeur de ces vies soit reconnue » et que « les messages d’apologie du génocide ne soient plus possibles ». Une reconnaissance législative serait « une première historique », mettant fin à des siècles de stigmatisation légale et sociale. « Il est nécessaire d’être à la hauteur de l’histoire », conclut Thibault, appelant députés et société à agir pour que ce génocide ne reste pas dans l’oubli.

À #Nantes, il y a beaucoup de bidonvilles dans lesquels vivent dans de terribles conditions des Roms. La municipalité envisage donc de proposer des solutions de relogement, notamment dans des mobil-homes.

Dans le quartier du vieux Doulon, quelques voisins s'y opposent pour des motifs fumeux. L'opposition politique s'y est engouffré.

Je suis écœuré de ce racisme de la part de mes voisin·es. Au contraire, je trouve que ce terrain est très bien adapté et je serai heureux de savoir que des familles roms vivent dans des conditions humaines

Le Zigeunelager d'Auschwitz, également connu sous le nom de Camp des familles Tsiganes d'Auschwitz, était le nom donné dans le langage nazi à la section B IIe du camp d'extermination et de concentration d'Auschwitz-Birkenau durant la période de février 1943 à août 1944.
