The live music outdoors audience is something I'll have to get used to here in SouthEast Minnesota.

They clapped enthusiastically after each song, but very little movement, few smiles, no dancing.

So different from live music in the SouthEast. North Alabama audiences for live bands are dancing, smiling, calling out to the band, hooting and a hollering.

Tonight was the "Rutabaga Brothers" who had a nice mix of Blues, Country, Rock, and Soul with an amazing female vocalist and pretty good male vocalists.

For #Juneteenth I wore my Underground Railroad Bicycle Route jersey. Bicycled on the Root River Trail to and from Peterson and went to the gazebo in front of city hall behind the library where they've been having live bands presented by the Rushford Public Library every Thursday for the month of June.

Explored the small city I moved to last year. Was nice to do some riding on the street and up some challenging hills. I love the Root River Rail, but I needed a bicycling "mental map" of my city.

Bicycled everywhere I'd never been before, with the exception of 3 very steep roads that didn't have other exits.

Bonus was finding out the city compost location so we can take the compost that's extra from feeding the compost worms in the basement.

Went for a pleasant jaunt around town.

Pleasant after I adjusted to using coaster brakes. A little terrifying when my hand gripping did nothing, nothing I tell you!

I now ❤️ handgrip brakes so much more.

The Root River Trail still has too much snow so I bicycled the city trail, then the not-so-mean city streets.

Then grocery shopping at Rushford Foods.

Last "warm" day for a while, so bicycled to City Hall drop box to pay my utilities, then bicycled to the Root River Trail.

On the treated and snow plowed streets it was fine.

On the trail, which isn't maintained in the Winter, snow was too deep, going past the inside of my rims.

Geared down as low as I could and that was okay, but what a workout.

-7 C bicycling 🚲 from Rushford, Minnesota to Peterson, Minnesota.

Took me 4 hours to get warm after I got home. I didn't feel cold at all while I was moving.

First test of studded tires on 50.6* millimeters of snow worked really well. Forgot the friction would cause more of a workout, but that was good for me.

Still too cold, but I needed to get out. Bicycled around town for a bit, then went to the library. My SouthEast ears are having to adjust to hearing MidWest accents. A [bag] "beck" is a "bahg".

This is a great library for such a small town. Defend your library from narrow minds, and make sure they're funded. Join the board if you can.

Too cold for me. -13.33 Celsius. Tried to do it anyway. Took me 5 hours to finally get warm inside after I got home. This has happened to me in the past in the SouthEast and the SouthWest plains areas no matter how many layers I've worn whenever it's lower than -7.77 C. I guess it takes time to adapt. The wind was brutal, even with wearing safety goggles.
