Nach dem Rückgang von #SARSCoV2 in den Abwasserdaten nimmt nun auch die Zahl der Hospitalisierungen wegen #COVID19 wieder ab. Die aktuelle Welle dürfte also doch deutlich kleiner bleiben als die Herbstwelle 2024.

Am Beispiel: #Wien

Hospitalisierungen wegen COVID in Wien von der Kalenderwoche 25 in 2024 bis zur KW 45 in 2025. Es zeigt sich eine breite Welle im Vorjahr mit einer Spitze vor genau einem Jahr und nach einem Absinken auf fast Null im Frühsommer 2025 ein stetiger Anstieg bis vor 3 Wochen, der aber weder die Breite noch die Spitze von vor einem Jahr erreicht.

Together, they form dense clumps that may block tiny blood vessels and reduce oxygen flow, a process thought to play a role in the ongoing symptoms seen in Long COVID.

In patients with Long COVID, a new study has revealed structural association between circulating microclots and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs).

This finding suggests the existence of underlying physiological interactions between microclots and NETS that, when dysregulated, may become pathogenic.

"UMAP clustering of cells revealed distinct expression proﬁles between patients and controls in classical and intermediate, but not non-classical, monocytes. Differential gene expression analysis, based on a fold change threshold greater than 3 and a p-value threshold below 10−18, identified 40 DEGs in classical, 13 in intermediate, and 6 in non-classical monocytes, while other cell types showed minimal changes."
