*It’s believed to be an Advanced Orion/Mentor signals intelligence satellite designated Orion-8.

An outdoor, daytime photograph of a Delta 4 Heavy rocket, a triple-cored rocket with cylindrical, orange cores and a white cylinder and fairing above that. The rocket is beginning to rise off its launch pad and the bright flames and exhaust of the engines builds up under and behind the rocket. There is a gray Fixed Umbilical tower with truss connections swinging away from the rocket. There are two tall, truss towers on either side of the rocket. There is a building behind the rocket that has a gap cut out that is clearly designed to accommodate the rocket. Green scrub, grass, and blue water separate the camera from the rocket.

Before most #rocket #launches, the press office allows #media and #photographers to the #pad to set #RemoteCameras, cameras that are triggered by sound or a timer to catch shots closer to the #rocket than a person could survive.

After the launch, the photographers collect their cameras, if they survived, and review the images.

This was taken the night before a #Delta IV Heavy launch, during remote setup.
