I stopped by my extended family's house a few days ago and my uncle showed me the solar installation he freshly built. It's made of 4 panels of 500 Wp and 2 square meters each, three of which are mounted on a tracker that he entirely designed, welded, assembled and painted. Batteries, regulator, console and tracker control box are sheltered in the adjoining garage. He plans to double the number of panels by adding 4 more fixed ones on the roof of the house.
Not only did I find the installation quite impressive, it was also beautiful, in a way! :suno:
so much of media that i see (tv, movies, video games) is pessimistic
narratives often concern small victories against an inevitable badness; it's exhausting given the state of the world today
the idea that our world is more good than bad, and that badness is a temporary exception that needs to be fought, is kinda hard to find
i miss that kind of escapism
maybe that's #solarpunk today?

Beautiful day to propagate a store bought basil plant. $4 for a basil plant, which is actually about a dozen basil plants. You need to separate them and repot. The small ones I’ll clean up and let root more while the bigger ones I’ll trim back, eat the basil from them and let them grow back in. Not all of these may survive but they all had great roots so I’m pretty sure many of these will. Next up I’m going to trim these and find a good spot for them to live. #gardening #SolarPunk #InfiniteBasil
