I'm interested in knowing whether a #VectorDatabase can actually provide a better search index than #solr or other standard search solutions. It is hard to get a good feel for how revolutionary the backend of #AI tools are, separate from the chatty parrot front end interfaces that people are so enamored with.

If you're just getting started with search, you might be comparing the popular #elasticsearch and the powerful #VespaAI - particularly if you've read some recent comparisons showing how the latter can be faster..so you'll be looking for a simple 'getting started' guide - you know, throw in some simple documents, run a search or two. Sure, Vespa has some amazingly powerful features and a solid heritage but I think until they make the onboarding experience way easier they'll struggle to drive adoption. Elastic's strength was always how quick & easy it was to start with compared to the incumbent #Solr.

Wait, why do we use #solr for #drupal sites again? I honestly can't think of any reason that is worth the massive amount of extra work.

I am updating some commit hooks in a platform at work so I can have it also update #solr. There are several hundred of these calls and sadly I can't force the matter with sed. I'm going to be doing a lot of clicking today.

solrcopy https://github.com/juarezr/solrcopy is a nice tool to import and export data from Solr. Useful for backups and restore, but also for data ingestion.

In the past I have used solrdump and solrbulk, but solrcopy is more complete.

i'm also filling in for the coach for #mma classes tomorrow. i haven't done that in quite a while. should be fun but i much prefer being the student.

Question to #Solr community: using a `Join Query` between 2 cores (Solr standalone, not cloud) can I have a single result with the documents from `core2` in a child document of `core1`?

#Solr is one of those genies that promises to fulfill all your website search wishes, but then extracts a terrible price in return.

@hvdsomp Wouldn't it be better to propagate thinge like #SRU instead? Returning a CSV as shown in the examples may not be apropriate to library use cases. And a web server may never be a search server like #Solr or #ElasticSearch ?
