The Twin Otter was originally designed by De Havilland Canada in the 60’s.

It is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft that can carry up to 19 passengers and is designed for rugged terrain journeys.

In Malaysia, it is usually used to transport passengers and cargo to remote locations where the Short Take-off and Landing (STOL) ports are located.

The new Mukah Airport (MKM) officially opened on 17 June 2021 to replace the previous Mukah STOLport.

MKM is able to cater up to 260,000 passengers per year and equipped with a 1.5km runway for turboprop and helicopter operations.

The runway can be extended to accommodate larger aircraft, such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 in the future.

Malaysia Airports wish to inform that Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia () has issued a notice for temporary closure of the at ().

The heavy rain last night had caused a flash at the runway. Glad to share that the water level has receded and cleaning works are underway.

The however is unaffected and remains open. To those in Lawas, stay safe!
