This season's first sail on my husband's sail boat. I'm quite afraid of sailing but this time the winds were mellow, we didn't go for a very long trip and it was all very nice.

The summer this far in Finland has been pretty chilly. Last year in England people were surprised when I told them that yes, we have proper summers in Finland. Thank goodness nobody is visiting us this summer because it seems to become one of these no-summer summers. But the last 10 years it's been hot and dry! So even if we humans would like less rain and more heat, I'm sure all the plants and wildlife are quite satisfied with this kind of summer 💙🌍

Je viens de boucler ma désormais traditionnelle semaine de voile. Autour de Minorque cette année.
Je ne suis toujours pas la matelote le plus aguerrie du voilier... Border la grande voile, choquer le génois ou encore mettre au taquet sont des termes qui mettent souvent un temps certain à être décryptés par mon cerveau désespérément terrien 😉

Mais j'en ai encore pris plein les yeux ... et ai profité de ces moments privilégiés pour dessiner au fil de l"eau, la côte sud et ses couleurs crèmes dorées et les falaises de grès rouge au nord, mes préférées !

Le temps d'un mouillage ou à la volée quand le voilier filait ...

#svpriscilla #sailboat projects as of late: replacing the plywood in two of the three cabin cushions. Because we love extra work, we covered them in epoxy to waterproof them before we zip them back in. We’ll finally have a break from the rain, so I can wash and sundry the cushion covers.

We cut holes for the new sail pack displays, and are thisclose to finishing that aspect of the installation. We still have to install the transducer and the anemometer on top of the mast.

There are days when settling down and starting a travel business on a Pacific Island feels slightly tempting as an alternative career.

Like this day, years and years ago.

Not the most challenging hike along the ridge to the top of this tropical island, but the stunning view was worth far more than the afternoon light effort.
Backpacking along a Pacific island like Tavewa, hopping along the Yasawa islands chain in Fiji near Equator got its challenges.

Not big ones. But still.

Then, enjoying part of the vast body of water that is the South Pacific, the different size and types of islands, the colours and the outlook into the far horizon, and the different types of vessels people use to get around.

It makes your mind fly and the inspiration flow.
Still does.
