The sun is back out in Sant Pere de Ribes, Catalonia, so here's a single house-name tile. It's signed SCM, which isn't an artist whose work I've noticed here before.

Gira-sol is sunflower in Catalán (girasol, no hyphen, in Spanish) where 'girar' means to turn, presumably in this case towards the sun.

One of my favourite ceramic pieces from my adopted home of Sant Pere de Ribes, Catalonia, Spain. This charming seaside scene on two tiles is positioned at about knee height on the wall of a house, and always makes me smile when I pass.

DIY #streetsign repairs, Sant Pere de Ribes, Catalonia, Spain.

The signature, LMB, is that of a prolific #ceramicist in nearby #Sitges. He has produced vast numbers of street nameplates, in addition to larger-scale decorative pieces for local landmarks and private homes.

I visited his studio just before the pandemic, and he is ageing with no-one set to continue his work. His studio also houses a remarkable collection of antique #ceramics.

Wall-mounted street nameplate for "Carrer Bisbe Guilara" composed of six ceramic tiles in a 3 x 2 array. The tiles and the wall are white, and the hand-lettered text is in black. Two of the tiles, top left and top right, have been lost. Someone has subsequently set about restoring the missing bits of lettering with paint or permanent marker. This is crudely done and makes little reference to the original work.
