John Quiggin neatly summarises what is wrong with foreign ownership decisions taken by our govt. While the bidding entity for #Santos is Middle Eastern private equity (and private equity entities have a reputation for pillage and fire sales), the real issue with any take-over must be PRRT and other tax related incentives afforded #FossilFuelIndustries.
As @johnquiggin correctly points out… don’t expect our govt to make the urgent and necessary (implied national security issue) changes to the Australian tax regime. Ho hum… down with the climate we go… let’s burn some more carbon and help us all along to hell on earth.
