Chu Qi Gui Zi đang đưa sanxian truyền thống lên tầm cao mới bằng cách kết hợp với nhạc điện tử hiện đại. Hành trình của cô không chỉ khơi dậy sự quan tâm đến nhạc cụ cổ điển mà còn hấp dẫn giới trẻ toàn cầu. #Sanxian #ÂmNhạcHiệnĐại #TruyềnThống #ChuQiGuiZi https://ift.tt/9Vv2TPd https://ift.tt/lX61cCv
Took my Sanxian down to a nearby park and jammed not far from some picnic groups. Threw out a hat, but didn't make any money. It was fun, though, and I learned some ideas to make it better
Certain amusing Irony that I tend to play my small sanxian as a "play around the apartment" because it's small and light ut it's also the hardest to play because of the string spacing. I'm best on bass but my 6-string bass is heavy as fuck and my big sanxian is so big it's unwieldy. So I play my 'practice sanxian' the most
Related to my last post post, I was listening to modern Shamisen , which I dearly love but I won't mention who because I don’t want to sound like I’m bragging that I am better than him. I was listening and I thought “he’s incredibly fast” and then I realized “his bachi is incredibly fast, but my left hand Sanxian is just as fast”. They are just different techniques. With a Shamisen, you hit every note with the bachi, on my Sanxian I’m playing with finger picks...
I'm realizing one weak spot in my Sanxian technique is my tremolo. I've always been very conservative of my right-hand energy, and my melodic style does not involve repeating quick notes so I entail quick pulls offs and hammer ons but bit my much vibrato and very little tremolo. My melodic style is more...I don't know how to say it, but I'm moving around much more than that. but watching sanxian masters, those techniques are much more how they play....#Sanxian #Tremolo #vibrato #三弦 #musician
Yesterday was "bass" day
Today is "sanxian day"
Just home from a Purple Bamboo performance. Didn't mention it because I wasn't sure if I'd be there. The Center for East Asian Studies of UofA had a presentation today and we played a handful of songs. Lot of fun; probably the most relaxed I've played yet

Heh heh, I was at Shen Yun last night (great show, by the way...strongly recommend) and they have one ethnic dance routine with dancers with (mock) SanXian and Hulusi. After the show, I bugged the conductor "you have a routine about SanXian but none in your orchestra". He countered "maybe we'll hire you"

An instrumental pieces I've been working on for a while; some old ideas finally recorded and expanded on. Multiple bass and Sanxian tracks and some others
Sorta still in progress

Thursday's rehearsal with "Purple Bamboo" was my first with the Sanxian. It was quite a challenge in ways I never expected. Playing with an ensemble on a instrument with variable tuning was part of it but I had also learned the songs differently from everybody else. Between those two, I was constantly struggling to find my place
Was still a lot of fun and I learned a lot
