De Cricula Trifenestrata Helfer is een rupsensoort die van nature goudkleurige cocons spint. Voor het werk Shameless Gold gebruikte kunstenaar Mella Jaarsma deze cocons om de sociale elite en thema’s als rijkdom en ongelijkheid te onderzoeken.
In Indonesië, waar de kloof tussen arm en rijk groot is, wilde zij reflecteren op hoe rijkdom wordt getoond en waargenomen. Het werk roept beelden op van luxe en macht, maar verwijst ook naar de schaduwzijde hiervan.
