Just finishing the #book 'Crypto Confidential: Winning and Losing Millions in the New Frontier of Finance' written by #cryptobro Nathaniel Eliason.

It does not paint a nice picture of the culture of greed and gambling. It also confirms how a technology that could have some useful use cases (once passed the incredibly steep learning curve, which by itself is an open challenge) has been taken completely over by speculators and #scammers.

Fortunately, most of this seems to be nowadays in the past.

Someone stole a check, after the envelope was placed into a mailbox.

They then did some sort of magic, to change the amount and who to pay it to. Then tried to deposit it.

My credit union would have cleared it, except that they made the check out to thousands more than I had in that account.

In any sane world, banks would let you set maximum limits, on the amounts for a check.

Instead they let scammers get rich, letting their customers pick up the pieces

A scammer steals my mail, I report it to the post office who recommends filing a police report.

The police refuse to do it.
