Is there some place to freely download device schematics?

Still have to check which board exactly it is I have here, just know it's an older Thinkpad. Those board schematics would make it way easier for me as I wouldn't need to measure all the screw holes (need to make a case for it).

This + #Pi0W and some USB+Ethernet Hub & Keyboard seems to me the more reasonable and cheaper alternative to trying to get a working #DEC #Terminal at a reasonable price + Wifi232 module [video via @lazygamereviews]...

I really hope @paulrickards releases the #WiFi232 modules' #schematics and #firmware as #OpenSource since that thing seems to be #unobtanium still...

  • Cuz unless someone were to release a competing project that can be powered via #PoE and runs off #Ethernet it's the best option out there.

@JessTheUnstill @GreenRoc Personally I wish for #RightToRepair to be mandated including access to #schematics, #parts, #firmware and #tools needed so #manufacturers would be forced to actually give a shit and build #RepairableTech...

Remember: Most folks are mere #consumers, not #owners and espechally not #tinkerers!

  • THIS is why #RaspberryPi were able to basically monopolize the #ARM - #SBC market for tinkerers because they are the only one's that actually build devices that just work out of the box and have #documentation, whereas all the competitors just fart out some PCBs and some hacked-up images and then tell people to 'go fuck themselves' when they don't want to just buy but do something with it!

If their processors are equally documented, I'm not surprised that Intel still sells...
