Die Fähre nach #Gozo fährt in entgegengesetzter Richtung zu der Fähre auf der das Foto entstand. Das Fahrwasser dazwischen ist tiefblau. Gischt spritzt hoch. Der Himmel ist blau.

For #SchiffsSamstag this is the Norwegian ship, Artemis Angler, whose name might suggest some kind of fishing vessel but she's actually a seismic survey ship. This was taken last month as we were leaving Ålesund. Behind her is Arctic Pearl, another scientific ship but one converted to harvest scallops.

We're on a ship passing close to land so our viewpoint is from quite high up. It's a very overcast day with a thick, low blanket of white cloud covering up the tops of some distant, snowy-peaked hills and mountains. Nearer to us, across a short stretch of flat, grey, cold water and filling the width of the image there is a high strip of land, damp grass and thin trees covering a rocky surface with a few dozen houses of varying designs either singly or in small groups arranged roughly in four layers up the height of it. Docked alongside the land between us and it are two ships but one is almost entirely blocking the view of the other. It has a blue hull with white deck area, a raised helipad towards the front and a bridge area set just back from it and below the helipad with views forward under it. A spherical radar dish is mounted around midship. The ship behind has a higher bridge and because it's facing in the opposite direction, to the left, it almost looks like the bridge behind is part of the ship in front.

A Simple Low Contrast Colour Photo In Landscape Format. Nearly All The Image Is Filled With The Still Waters Of A River. Neither Bank Is In View. The Central Area Stretching From The Top To The Bottom Has A Wide Bright Strip Of Reflected Light From The Overcast Sky. The Left And Right Edges Have A Dark Green Tint. The Entire Surface Of The River Has Round Splash Marks From Falling Rain. To The Right Of Centre And Aligned With The Camera Is A Long Dragon Boat. It Is Moored Bow Facing The Camera And Only A Short Distance Away. Forward Of The Bow Is The Bowsprit In The Form Of A Colourful Dragon, Jaws And Eyes Wide Open. Aft Are Fourteen Positions For Her Crew With A Rowlock On The Sten For A Paddle/Tiller In Order To Steer.

For #SchiffsSamstag here's the P&O cruise ship Aurora heading towards the Norwegian port of Alta, taken from our own ship, Ambassador Ambience, as we were departing the port following a 36-hour stay last month. Two old, small cruise ships passing in a stunningly beautiful part of the world.

A bitterly cold but serene scene on almost mirror-like water in a wide fjord. Pale blue sky overhead becomes a bank of billowing white cloud over the distant landscape of undulating, deep snow-covered hills. Black patches of uncovered rock and the leafless trees on the landscape give it a bristled look. Between our position on this water and the land in the distance there is a cruise ship heading to our left and positioned as we look at the scene just off to the right. She's a small cruise ship as they go these days, mostly white-hulled except for a Union Flag painted on her sharp prow. A single dark blue funnel is towards the aft of the ship with some light smoke emerging and streaming backwards. It's just possible to make out figures on the top deck and the exposed parts of the promenade deck admiring this icy landscape and possibly our own ship as we pass one another.

A vibrant and whimsical sculpture of the prow of a ship juts out from the side of a tall, light-coloured building under a bright, clear blue sky. A view from the shore of Cuxhaven (Germany) to the estuary of the river Elbe into the North Sea. The horizon is placed in the vertical center of the picture. The sunny August sky is blue, no clouds. Two ships had met a moment ago. The 34 years old bulk carrier "Yeoman Bridge" (Bahamas) painted in a rusty-type red all over is sailing to the left (westward), the all over white painted cruising ship "AIDAcara" (Italy) is sailing to the right (eastward) up the Elbe river.

The ships are about 10 km away from the standpoint of the camera.

The picture is perfectly symmetrical; in the nearly exact center of the picture a white radar tower on the opposite shore, about 30 km away, marks this point in the picture.

2. So alberte er gern mit ihr herum. Am letzten Abend nahm die Bedienung unseren Sohn ganz spontan in den Arm und fragte ihn nach seiner Adresse, die er ihr gern gab.
Einige Wochen nachdem wir wieder zu Hause waren, kam eine Postkarte
"Für Alexander! Viele Grüße von Otto Schülke!"
Das war so rührend und hat unseren Sohn so sehr gefreut.
Wir kannten ihre Adresse nicht. Vielleicht sitzt sie gerade hier bei Mastodon und liest das.
Diese nette Geste werde ich nie vergessen.

About A Kilometre Behind This Ship Is Another Larger Container Ship, Similar To The First Apart From Having A Great Many Containers Stacked Above Deck And Only One Funnel, This To Emitting A Trail Of Dark Smoke.To The Right And In The Background Is Land With Rising Terrain. Above Is A White And Overcast Sky.
The Location Is The East Lamma Channel That Leads From The Deep Waters Of The South China Sea To Hong Kong (2018).

For #SchiffsSamstag here's the Statsraad Lehmkuhl in Bergen harbour from a few weeks ago. This is a training sailing ship, originally built by the Germans in 1914 then taken as a prize by the British after World War I and bought by Norway shortly after. It briefly served the Germans again during World War II.
