Jennifer Ann’s Group, an Atlanta-based nonprofit, is seeking collaborators for studies on how video games can PREVENT teen dating violence.

💜 Since 2006, we’ve used digital media to promote healthy relationships.
Now we’re looking to partner with researchers (students, faculty, or independent scholars) interested in trauma-informed, game-based, and prevention-focused research.

🧠 We do not have funding available at the moment, but would work with you to secure some. (We are US-based, looking to branch out internationally)

I presented at the fedi's Summer School / Solstice School in July and it was useful + fun; we also started talking about our favourite miniatures + diorama projects - which led to a call for a future fedi #DioramaCon.

after the presentation went for a walk and lo + behold - in the window of the local vinyl shop was a diorama of the local vinyl shop 😍

@Kinniska Maybe they're getting slammed with trolling? And I'm sure there are a ton of academics still trying to get in.

This and other academically oriented servers are going to have to scale up fast, or it will defeat the purpose of academics coming here in the first place.

I also worry that the massive influx of academics is more about anxious egos rushing to the megaphone than wanting to find interesting discussions.

On my prev instance, undescribed images were highlighted in red, but not here. I'd like to have a policy of only reblogging described images - if I can work out which ones they are! Thanks :)

oh frick right that's not one of the options, it's a weird omission. over here we use a combination of a message board on loomio (which we do governance stuff on), and a gup.pe group which boosts to everyone following it (which, if it doesn't already exist, I am making right now by tagging @scholarsocial ). otherwise the #scholarsocial tag. y'all may have something for intra-instance communication already, and if not I highly recommend.

if your publications or research material are used in syllabi or used in teaching by others, do you list it somewhere, on e.g. your academic CV?

does anyone have any idea about the status of moderation on scholar.social #scholarsocial ? it's the default one I recommend to academics and someone on birbsite said they had their account deactivated and no response to attempt to remedy since like April. if not, any recs for alternatives to recommend to new fedis? (pinging @socrates who's listed as admin)
