I joked yesterday that Starmer would surrender Scotland to Trump to appease him, our very own Sudetenland (except it's not really ours, as in "the UK") and we're clearly all thinking it because we've seen this weak Chamberlain shit before and know where it goes.

Quite simply, the UK Prime Minister is unable and maybe unwilling to defend this country from foreign aggression

In KeirWorld where no boat should ever be rocked, The Donald operates in a
world without consequences. Where every humiliation is only greeted with
an invitation to inflict further humiliation. Were Trump to take a fancy to
Scotland - hell, he owns a couple of golf courses so why not the whole
country: first he takes Turnberry then he takes Holyrood - what would
Starmer do then? Apart from saying how disappointed he was and that we
needed to maintain good relations with the US at all costs.

In Scotland... on these numbers, it would be difficult to see how the SNP can credibly argue any mandate for an #indyref2.

Might there be a majority of pro-independence MSPs? 50:50.
Will that be on a majority of votes? Not even close.

I've just been reading up on the municipality of Vega, in #Norway:

"Vega Municipality is responsible for primary education (through 10th grade), outpatient health services, senior citizen services, welfare and other social services, zoning, economic development, and municipal roads and utilities."

Population of Vega? 1,208

Why can't mainland #Scotland trust this sort of power to populations less than 50,000?

I don't think that adopting #OpenSource software for government administration functions would leave Scotland 'stuck with choosing between US... or EU cloud services', @thecommongreen.

After all, 'cloud' is just space you've hired on someone else's server infrastructure, and it would be more economic long term for #ScotGov to invest in its own.

"There is no serious question that if #Trump so ordered it, Microsoft could deliberately shut down all services to the Scottish Government and our public sector and the Government must now react as if this is just as much a risk to our democracy as if it was discovered that Putin could send the same order to the same effect" -- @thecommongreen

With all the fuss over Jenrick, news of the appointment of a Tory multimillionaire as "leader" of Reform in Scotland was in danger of getting missed.

He's a Tory peer picked by Farage. No accountability to members (does Reform have members?) and very different views to the majority of Scottish voters (viz the NHS).

He's standing for Holyrood and will probably get in on the list.

"Multimillionaire leader of Reform in Scotland refuses to reveal net worth."

Labour MP in Scotland lies about Scotland - who could have thunk it?

‘In a letter to Shanks published on Tuesday, the UK Statistics Authority deputy chair Penny Young suggested that the Labour minister may have “misled” the public on all three points. ‘

I will be SNP 1 Greens 2 in the hope that my tiny contribution will help an independence majority in Holyrood, as well as appreciation (partial) for some of the policies of both parties.

Sure, our Prime Minister is up Trump's ass but he won't be Prime Minister for long....

Keir Starmer and senior ministers have been urged by Scottish Labour to
“stay behind their doors” in Whitehall to avoid turning the next Holyrood
election into a referendum on UK government failures.

Anas Sarwar, the leader of Scottish Labour, said the prime minister's policy
failures and missteps had left voters “angry, frustrated and impatient”,
leaving his party clear underdogs before May's election.

Pro-indy SNP supporters should vote for Scottish Greens on the list vote in May if they don't want to waste their 2nd vote and want to help keep Reform down:

"The [SNP]’s likely success in [constituency contests] would mean that, despite not being awarded a single list seat, the nationalists will have 45% or so of the seats in the chamber, well above the party’s 29% share of the list vote"

See the 22 bills on the Scottish Parliament agenda as MSPs in for marathon session

MSPS are set for a marathon parliamentary session – with 22 pieces of legislation to be dealt with before the election kicks off.
Some are further along in the process than others, but there are some that could risk falling off the agenda before May 7.
The legislative programme is so packed that parliamentary officials have scrapped the usual February recess in 2026, but MSPs will get a short reprieve over Easter.
Let’s take a look at what bills are coming up, and which ones are at risk of being left behind when voters go to the polls.

@regendans that's appalling, but it's just over 1% of the population. Here in rural Scotland, seven children out of a population of 350 in this village will be homeless this Christmas, which is 2%. #Homelessness is a crisis not only in London, but across the whole of the UK.

The facts behind the reporting - not that you would know from much of the coverage by the MSM

Media coverage of the tribunal ruling on Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife has one common characteristic: a disconnect from what the tribunal ruling actually says.

Crucially, the only four (of 47) points on which Peggie succeeded concerned only NHS Fife’s handling of her complaint, not her interactions with Upton.
