@amber I used Sauce Labs in a previous shop and it's pretty comparable. I saw someone at NCDevCon a long time ago that made their own with a bunch of phones inside of 1u server chassis and that felt like a lot of expense. It won't help with phone and tablet testing but there has to be something that you could rig up with Selenium. I'm not sure that I would have the time and interest to do that, though.

#Selenium, c’est la configuration clavier qu’on va proposer aux utilisateur’ices du Quacken. Ça n’est qu’une adaptation d’#Arsenik pour les claviers splittés — donc ayant 34 touches au minimum.

On va publier ça très bientôt, j’ai une page web sur mon PC, il faut « juste » mettre ça sur un vrai site web.

Messing around with #Selenium to automate some repetitive work stuff, and immediately ran into an annoyance.

By default it sends usage statistics to an external server (fortunately blocked by the work network) but it's opt-out without any obvious announcement.

Not a good first impression.

@Tacitus On reçoit le dernier (hopefully) proto avant lancement de la prod cette semaine, le créneau chez le câbleur/soudeur est calé, donc si tout va bien : ça devrait être là deuxième quinzaine de janvier. Pour se faire pardonner du retard, et outre les ajouts sur la carte électronique, on va profiter du délai pour peaufiner les configurations par défaut (projet #Selenium). On a prévu des configs pour tous les niveaux (easy, layer-taps, homerow-mods, Vim), et on a bon espoir que le Quacken soit le premier clavier où les homerow-mods sont intuitifs. 🤩

@daks @zyegfryed La principale raison pour laquelle on va refaire toute la section « claviers » du site ergol.org, c’est que trop de gens pensent que la configuration qu’on présente avec le Corne est celle qu’on recommande : oui, c’est la configuration qui nous semble la plus simple pour un clavier 42 touches, et Ergol rend ça trivial ; mais ça n’est pour nous qu’une étape d’apprentissage : utiliser des tap-holds améliore énormément le confort, et on trouve dommage de ne pas s’y essayer.

• Les tap-holds sous les pouces (layer-taps) sont très vite appris : les pouces savent déjà manipuler des touches en tap (Espace) et en hold (AltGr), la combinaison des deux comportements est intuitive, et ça permet d’avoir Shift, Entrée et Backspace sous les pouces plutôt qu’en extension d’auriculaires — radical !
• Les autres doigts ne font que du tap, et c’est la raison pour laquelle les homerow-mods sont plus délicats à apprendre. Certains n’y parviennent jamais ; mais ce qu’on a constaté, c’est que les personnes qui n’y arrivent pas utilisent de mauvais paramètres… la faute à QMK et ZMK, qui donnent la priorité au hold par défaut, étrangement.

L’ambition de #Selenium est la même qu’#Arsenik : proposer une config efficace et facile à apprendre pas-à-pas. La config ci-dessous n’est que le ticket d’entrée, et on encourage les utilisateur·ices à ajouter rapidement les layer-taps ; puis, une fois que c’est maîtrisé, de tenter les homerow-mods. Le gain de confort est fou !

Mais chacun’e voit midi à sa porte : si la config de base convient, ou si les mod-taps semblent trop compliqués, on est content qu’#Ergol et #QwertyLafayette permettent aussi facilement d’utiliser un clavier #1DFH. 🙂

@zyegfryed @daks Oui, c’est bien Esc et Tab respectivement. Et sur le B c’est Shift-Tab.

On sait que ces icônes ne sont pas toujours évidentes (surtout pour Esc). On est en train de bosser sur l’utilitaire de configuration du Quacken (#Selenium) :

• on a redessiné les icônes à base de flèches pour améliorer la lisibilité ;
• on va faire un glossaire / des info-bulles / tout ce qu’il faut pour lever les ambiguïtés ;
• on a prévu de reprendre entièrement la page #Arsenik du site ergol.org pour clarifier le contenu et présenter Selenium.

On espère profiter des vacances de Noël pour mener tout ça à bien !

Found myset invited to a demo of Agentic QE Fleet, a Claude-code -based open source thing that tries to sample agents for quality engineering, created by a friend in community Dragan Spiridonov.

For demo purposes, he was asking what open source to analyze and when the earlier proposals of components in AI-ecosystem had already been done, I proposed #Selenium.
