Today in Labor History February 8, 1943: Lepa Svetozara Radić, a 17-year-old communist, anti-fascist fighter from Bosnia, was executed by the Nazis for shooting at German troops. As they fastened the noose around her neck, they offered her amnesty if she would reveal her comrades' and leaders' names. She responded that she was not a traitor and that they would reveal themselves when they avenged her death. She also cried out: "Long live the Communist Party, and partisans! Fight, people, for your freedom! Do not surrender to the evildoers! I will be killed, but there are those who will avenge me!" Lepa had been a member of the Communist Party since she was 15. Around that same time, her family had been arrested by the Ustaše, a Croatian fascist and ultranationalist organization. Lepa and her sister, Dara, escaped. She then joined the 7th partisan company of the 2nd Krajiški Detachment. She was captured by the Nazis in February, 1943, after using up all of her ammunition, during a fierce gunbattle. She and her comrades continued to fight with their bare hands, until they were overpowered by blows by German rifle butts.

Sono ormai passati due giorni dal rigore sbagliato da Stanciu in Milan-Genoa al 99esimo, ma è un episodio che continua a far discutere, soprattutto per quanto fatto da Pavlovic pochi attimi prima del tiro dal dischetto. Il difensore serbo del Milan ha scavato una buca con il piede cercando di rovinare il punto di battuta, quattro volte col piede sinistro e due col destro. Un dettaglio che non è passato inosservato, tant’è che successivamente è stato ammonito per comportamento non regolamentare.
Stanciu ha calciato altissimo il rigore e il match è terminato per 1-1, con il Genoa che ha sprecato la possibilità di fare bottino pieno a San Siro. A stupire è stato anche il comportamento dei giocatori del Genoa, che nonostante abbiano visto Pavlovic “rovinare” il dischetto, siano rimasti lì fermi a guardarlo.
“L’arbitro doveva fare di più, levare i giocatori di mezzo”, ha dichiarato Daniele De Rossi nella conferenza stampa prima della sfida tra Genoa e Cagliari. “Non si può tirare un rigore 3 minuti e 50 secondi dopo il fischio e la conferma del Var che è arrivata subito. Un giocatore del Milan mi ha detto ‘io voglio vincere‘, lo posso capire e t’attacchi a tutto. Ma da quella maglia, dallo spessore di quella maglia ci si aspetterebbero altri comportamenti“, ha spiegato De Rossi che ha poi concluso: “In quel momento c’era un po’ di Far West ma noi non siamo gli scemi del villaggio, ci dovevamo far rispettare con più veemenza”.
A distanza di poche ore, sull’episodio che ha poi fatto il giro del web si è espresso anche Massimiliano Allegri: “Pavlovic? Ne succedono tanti di episodi nel calcio, è anche il suo bello. Certe cose, se le guardi a distanza nel tempo, fanno anche sorridere”, ha spiegato il tecnico rossonero.

The Serbian defender for Milan dug a hole with his foot, trying to ruin the spot, four times with his left foot and two with his right. A detail that wasn't overlooked, it’s why he was subsequently cautioned for unsporting behavior.
Stanciu shot the penalty very high, and the match ended 1-1, with Genoa missing the chance to take a full haul at San Siro. It was also surprising to see the behavior of the Genoa players, who remained there staring at Pavlovic “ruining” the spot.
“The referee had to do more, remove the players in the middle,” said Daniele De Rossi in the press conference before the Genoa-Cagliari match. “You can’t shoot a penalty three minutes and fifty seconds after the whistle and the VAR confirmation arrived immediately. A Milan player told me ‘I want to win’, I can understand it and you attack at everything.
