For #ThrowbackThursday here's me and a girl named Samantha sat on the pebble beach at Southsea. This would have been the very early 1970s when my parents rented a flat along the seafront just before and after I was born.

A scan of a square format, colour photograph taken in the early 1970s. We're on a pebble beach with part of a red blanket visible in the foreground low down, and we're looking across a short stretch of pebbles towards the relatively calm sea as it laps against the gently sloping mass of small, smooth stones. The angle of the shot is slightly off so the horizon is slightly tilted down to the left and in the distance we can see the end of a pier sticking out. There are heads of people swimming in the water and a couple of children are coming out of the sea in the background, one wearing a scuba mask. The main focus is on two children aged no more than 2 or 3 sat on the pebbles a couple of metres in front. A boy is turned, facing a little towards our view and is peering intently at a pebble or shell in his hands. A girl squats next to him with her back to us. The colours are faded but it feels like a warm day and there's clearly very little wind given the sea conditions.

Slightly faded scan of a square format colour photograph taken at some point in the early 1970s most likely. It's the interior of a house with four men showing off won trophies in front of them. The rear wall is painted pale blue and there's a tall white mantelpiece behind the men here with a small clock and small statues on its top as well as a larger mirrored unit in the centre and two framed photos hanging on the wall either side. The four men are standing side by side, all with similar looks. They're all white, smiling, with dark, curly hair - the man on the right has a larger mass of it - and all are wearing dark trousers, with two sporting dark cardigans over light shirts and ties, and the other two have jackets, with one having a light shirt and tie and the other wearing an open-necked, red, collared top. A small, low table is set in front of them with a white cloth on it, and on that are three large silver trophies and a couple of smaller trophies and shields resting in front of them.

For #ThrowbackThursday it's the early 1970s and here's me emerging from the Phantom Zone on Southsea Common where I'd been banished for unspeakable crimes by Jor-El. I held no grudge, though, for the punishment was just and gave me a chance to hone my interdimensional pocket universe escape techniques which have come in handy on several occasions since.

We're looking down at a patch of lawn with a border of small white flowers running along the top left corner. In the centre of view there is a square, white blanket, on which there is sitting a very young child, likely only recently able to actually sit at all.
