Unlike most W2T blends, the name is fairly reflective of the tea character, flavors are those of dark cane and molasses. This was the first year with the "small batch" label.

I often say while Ripe Puerh and Raw Puerh start very different, over time they become similar. A good example is this 2002 "Golden Leaf Shu Pu'Er" from Verdant teas. If I didn't see it was "Shu Pu'Er"on the label, I would think it is a middle aged naturally stored raw puerh.

The week of random shou minis is drawing to a close with 2020 "prosbloom" from White2Tea. Tip for gong fu brewing tightly compressed minis: rinse them a couple times in the pot (or gaiwan) with water at the appropriate temp, put the lid on the pot, and let them steam closed for 5-10 minutes. Then come back and restart your brewing.

There's a sort of convergent evolution as ripe and raw puerh age. Which is to say, a 20 year old ripe puerh is pretty similar to a well aged raw puerh. Ripe puerh starts funky and mellows with age. Raw puerh starts harsh and gets mellow and funky with age. This is a 2002 Golden Leaf Shu Pu'er from Verdant tea. It is mellowed sufficiently that it is essentially indistinguishable from a well aged raw puerh. It is a very enjoyable and long lasting cup.
