What are people on Windows 11 using to listen to #shoutcast streams?
I know it's been a minute since I've tuned in, but wow, Digital Gunfire is now on Spotify instead of streaming from their own servers. God damn it.
And here I am a Spotify prohibitionist.

Is there anyone who is in the #vi #broadcasting space who would like to fill in any open slots in their station programming? I have a buddy who would like to learn this skill and get some experience with today's tool chain. My experience is limited to the #winamp / #shoutcast setup that was used years ago. #a11y #internet #radio
BUTT 1.45.0 was just released. BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool) is an easy to use, multi OS streaming tool that supports Icecast, Shoutcast and WebRTC.
This version adds support for custom URLs and mount points for listener statistics, adds separate MIDI commands for START/STOP Broadcasting and Recording, and adds support for controlling BUTT via MIDI NOTE_ON messages. This version also brings a bunch of bug fixes.
Any recommendations for internet radio stations?
somafm is one of my favorites, and I'm aware of tilderadio, but looking to see what else is out there.
Does anyone know of a #Streaming app with which I could potentially run an endless playlist with queue functionality like a #Shoutcast / #Icecast server but for local LAN so I could just have a media server run through my media collection folder by folder, file by file, outputting the data in a stream which other PCs can tune in on which isn't fucking #Plex or something else proprietary and networked?
Edit: Probably going to use Icecast.
Mike Pierce's curated Github repo of radio stream websites, radio stream databases & aggregators, and cool radio-related sites/projects. These streams can be played by many media players (e.g. VLC) or played by opening the stream URL directly in a web browser.
The latest version of BUTT was released December 1, 2024. BUTT (broadcast using this tool) is an easy to use streaming tool. It supports SHOUTcast and Icecast and runs on Linux. The main purpose of butt is to stream live audio data from your computers Mic or Line input to a Shoutcast or Icecast server. If you want you can also record your session.

#Winamp owner deletes '#OpenSource' repository after a bumpy month on GitHub
The original GitHub release was under the Winamp Collaborative License (WCL) 1.0, which states No Forking: You may not create, maintain, or distribute a forked version of the software. The deletion seemingly occured after The Register contacted the developers regarding the inclusion of #Shoutcast DNAS code and some codecs from Intel and Microsoft.

So they were violating #GPL and rm'ed the repo...
By the looks of it, the new #Winamp repo contains the source code of #Shoutcast by mistake... :D repo maintainer seems to be making attempts at removing it but this being the internet, it may or may not have already been mirrored elsewhere...
The Linksys WML11B is a product of a different age - while it had a cloud service for stations (long gone,) it's essentially just an #Icecast / #Shoutcast / #DLNA MP3 stream player, if a bit wonky.
In order to use the device, you'll need to update it to the last available firmware - that requires a #WinXP machine (!) to do so.
I've provided links to the firmware, and an archive of all of the Yahoo! Groups posts for the device in my writeup, should you be so inclined.

Woo! The test of household radio stations is working! Patiobar to control Pianobar streaming over Snapcast, all running on the housebrain K3S cluster without any physical audio hardware. Now I just need to get the client pushed out around the house and build a control dash in HA. (And stand up 2 or 3 more 'stations' of course.)
