Thurston’s Wharf. One of Maine’s many historical working waterfront locations still used by lobstermen today. The wharf buys lobsters from many of the boats that fish out of the harbor and provides bait, fuel, and storage space for lobster traps and other gear.

Further in the background there is a float with a ramp to it with a boat tied up. Beyond that there is a second wharf, and finally the mountains of Acadia National Park are visible. The water is glossy calm and the film’s blue hues are very slightly towards turquoise.

Bass Harbor reflected in the wharf window. I spent the first three years of my lobster-fishing career on the white-hulled boat on the closest mooring.
