@knix Leider wird #simplexchat teilweise von Jack Dorsey finanziert. Wenn man also von den Tech Bros weg möchte, dann ist das nicht die beste Wahl.

In the past, I have talked positively about #SimpleXChat messenger @simplex being an emerging alternative to other messengers. I have even recommended trying it, to some.

This is definitely ending today.

Throughout 2025, I've repeatedly seen SimpleX's founder and director #EvgenyPoberezkin being quoted with some strange statements. This morning, after another such mention, I set aside some time to review his posting history.

I ended up utterly appalled. Not by some lonely, isolated post I happened to stumble upon. Instead, the complete portfolio of extreme-right, "anti-woke", and libertarian BS gets promoted and reposted, continuously:

Xenophobic rants about migrants; attacks against the European Convention on Human Rights (#EHCR); #transmisia; anti- #DEI agitation; support for JD Vance's fantasies about "missing freedom of speech" in Germany; climate change denial; anti-vaxxing crusades ("COVID vaccination was a genocide, on the scale well beyond Nazi war crimes"), and support for RFK Jr's other attacks on science; defamation of the welfare state; celebrating #Trump's "great leadership"; siding with him on declaring antifascists "terrorists"; praising fascist rallies in the UK; the list just goes on and on.

Nothing good can come out of a place firmly under the control of such an individual.

Please do not support the promotion of such agendas. Stay away from SimpleX Chat, and please forgive me for recommending that you try it.

Ja, die Idee ist es ohne zentrale Stelle auszukommen. Bei Matrix wäre ja dann in deinem Beispiel die Uni die zentrale Stelle für uns Studis. Dann könnten wir auch Rocket.Chat von denen nutzen.
Auch unterstützt Element selbst kein Forward secrecy (bzw. #PQC), dann macht E2EE heute doch sowieso keinen Sinn mehr oder?

#simplexchat hingegen ist dezentral und wir könnten auf u.a. den Server von AdminForge und vielen anderen Dezentralen zurückgreifen oder selbst

I'm thinking of switching away from my Nextcloud AIO install I always have issues with certain elements the most recent being Nextcloud talk video cells not connecting.

I know Immich is good for photos , Radicale is good for calendar and contacts. But can anyone recommend a self hosted talk replacement ? Maybe SimpleX chat ? Also has anyone tried Opencloud ? Or maybe something else to replace files ?

Briar para en caso de emergencias como apagones y demás.

Y lo siento pero es muy probable que whatsapp nunca lo pueda cambiar ya que mi familia lo usa y para futuros trabajos me lo pedirán.

Aunque... 😏 puedo usar un bridge para poder alejarme de whatsapp.

Muchachos para MI lo mejor en mensajería es Simplex Chat:

-personalizacion ya que puedes cambiarle de todo.

-Múltiple servidores, esto en caso que caiga uno puede seguir operativo.

-conexiones cifradas y en los servers (si no me falla la memoria) no se guarda nada.

incluso puedes tener varias cuentas y incluso esconder tu cuenta privada.

-además de que puedes auto alojarte.

-incluso puedes pasarlo por #Tor

Y mas si se trata de dejar en modo publico tu Simplex chat para que cualquiera pueda contactarse contigo.

Aunque a decir verdad a veces tiene fallos pero bueno lo compensa con todo lo anterior dicho.

Also ich persönlich nutze bevorzugt SimpleX Chat, aber mit anderen Servern als die Standard-Server von SimpleX, keine K. I. Server von FLUX und ganz bewusst kein TOR-Netzwerk und nur noch selten Threema Libre, weil ich SimpleX Chat auch besser finde als Threema Libre und außerdem ist es datenschutzfreundlicher & sicherer als Threema Libre.

Nur ist SimpleX Chat leider noch nicht ganz ausgereift, weil dieser Messenger auch noch recht neu (glaube) aus dem Jahr 2022 ist & somit noch nicht so ganz bei den ausgereiften Messengern mithalten kann, die es auch schon seit 10 Jahren gibt.

Meine Entscheidungsgrundlage war, ist und bleibt nach wie vor auch hauptsächlich die Messenger-Matrix von Mike Kuketz vom Kuketz Blog.

C'est vraiment complètement une idée de merde d'utiliser des groupes Signal pour de l'activisme (au hasard le 10 septembre) : tu dois rejoindre le groupe avec ton profil habituel, et du coup, tu révèles :
1) ton nom et ta photo de profil à l'ensemble des membres du groupe (bonjour le fichage)
ou 2) tu changes ton nom et ta photo avant de rejoindre et tous tes contacts sont "bah ? T'as retiré ta photo ? J'ai galéré à te retrouver dans ma liste. Pourquoi ?"

SimpleX Chat et Olvid permettent d'avoir des profils différents par activités ou groupes sociaux. Arrêtez d'utiliser Signal (ou Telegram) : c'est de la merde !
