Anyone aware of any good \ user friendly guides or instructionals out there to help people migrate from meta \ Twitter to Mastodon?
I want to start putting together resources to help groups and communities migrate en masse away from billionaire backed platforms to decentralized ones. Target audience would be soccer moms, activists, college students, etc.
Looking for help getting connected with subject area experts and others already working on this.

I’ve been through a few social site migrations (Xanga/MySpace/Facebook/Twitter and now Mastodon) and it’s always interesting to me how I find and jive with different communities each time. On birdsite “my people” were mostly Journalists AvGeeks and travel peeps. But here it’s geeks (that’s a good thing) and more naturalist/wildlife/gardening/birding folk. More wholesome here, I might add.
Why are we on #Mastodon ?
Yes the bird site has driven many of us away, but equally, I don’t FB, Tumbl, Tok, Snap or Insta.
For me it’s the desire for something bigger linked to privacy, ownership of my own data and more.
Has the world been reactive to date with social media choice, when we could be designing the platform we need, rather than one owned by a billionaire or manipulated by a state designed to commodify our posts?
I’ve not resolved this yet. I’m not even certain why I participate in #SocialMedia

I used to post regularly on Facebook until I was chased away by harassment. I used to post regularly on Instagram until the same thing happened there. I hope that it will be different this time here on Mastodon. I miss the friends I had on those platforms, and hope they find me here. I also have a blog, but it is rarely visited by others. I got rid of WhatsApp in favour of Signal. I am currently weaning myself off the blue bird. My FB is inactive and I'm just not deleting it fully to ensure it's only accessible by me.

I tried moving instances today and didn’t realize my posts wouldn’t come with me, which is a bummer. Actually I don’t even know if that’s true or if I just did it wrong (I live in the “I don’t know what I don’t know” domain lately.)
In other news, Sargon of Akkad was reinstated on tw*tter and I was automatically following him wtf. That place just sucks so much now. I’m getting more and more recommendations about a**holes to follow. The change is now actually palpable.
