Why not apply the principles of #threatmodelling and #CommonCriteria to secure #socialsafety in #socialmedia software or #Mastodon?
What “social targets” should be secured against what kind of attack vectors and malicious actors?
Then maybe we can evaluate the ways to use quoted posts as attack vectors on social safety and how to prevent them.
Based on a discussion with @atomicpoet, I would like to suggest an extended #ISO9126 with quality attribute #socialsafety added. Especially for social media software.

1. What are quoted tweets trying to resolve?
2. Make solution independent requirements out of it
3.Mandatory step: Add #socialsafety, #dataprivacy and #cybersecurity requirements as MUST HAVE.
4. Create a technical solution, for the benefit of healthy societies and not the individual alone.

Why are the social safety concerns for quoted posts called "dubious"? Because they block the implementation of quoted tweets at Mastodon? Yes. Obviously true. Can they be ignored? No. Definitely not. They are key for the next gen tools, which should do it better for ALL of us not for the benefit of a few.
Like requirements for #cybersecurity or #dataprivacy, we need mandatory requirements for #socialsafety too. The #Mastodon community showed us the way how to do it.
