Last month we challenged ourselves with 62 #Inktober prompts to brainstorm ideas for new commedia dell'arte plays. This month we fleshed out each of the ideas in preperation for next month where we hope to have written 31 new scenarios before the end of 2025! (And maybe a few bonus plays for our actually planned performances next year.)

Years ago we daydreamed a fantastical commedia dell'arte scenario where young Dorotea faced trouble at home from the machinations of her clueless father Dottore Gratiano to the unwanted attention of miser Panalone to the greedy vengeance of black widow Vittoria. But when Dorotea flees her home as a tornadic storm hits Venice she becomes lost and dreams of a fantastical pastorale island where everyone looks like someone she knows (with a twist) including an enchantress most WICKED and a not-so-WONDERFUL Meraviglioso Mago di Gozo!

November 20 is False Confession Day 2025 and that's no Lie! A silly holiday to try to pass jokes or share unserious confessions. One of our favorite lazzi in our commedia dell'arte farces is "Thrice Confession" where an outraged character will spit a series of sever accusations and the dumbfounded recipient will respond by repeating the entire string as a question only to be mistaken for confessing to the crimes!
