When your hot* compost box is commandeered by worms 😆🪱
Clearly they win (and are doing good work with our veggie scraps anyway)!

*Not actually hot due to considerable neglect on my part.

Photo shows the interior of a black bin with the lid lifted halfway open. Vegetable scraps, a bunch of dead grass, some dead leaves and a metric shit-ton of worms are visible inside. The worms appear to be climbing up the sides, clearly readying themselves for a world domination attempt.

Africa: Grazing and Digging Put Some Herbivores At Greater Risk From Toxic Elements in Soil - New Research: [The Conversation Africa] If you've watched a giraffe browsing in the tree canopy, a white rhino meandering across open grassland or a warthog shuffling around on its knees in South Africa's Kalahari desert, you know what they eat: leaves, grass, shoots and roots. With every mouthful, they swallow something less… newsfeed.facilit8.network/TQmS #Africa #Wildlife #Herbivores #Grazing #SoilHealth

If you feel like your current field drainage isn't just doing it's job, the job has gotten bigger since the systems were installed. #soilhealth

Know your soil! Clay = Cabbage; Loam = Carrots; Sandy = Radishes. Plant what thrives for beginner success, but remember you can improve structure (with compost/manure) over time! 🔄 Healthy soil = happy veg. 🥕🌱 #GardeningTips #SoilHealth

Perennial grains like Kernza promise deep roots, lower erosion and fewer emissions. 🌾
But can they survive the commodity treadmill of global wheat and rice?

As well as the home made compost I also have a bin of Korean Natural Farming IMO4 inside the shed, a worm bin at home in the garage and a bokashi bin to take any unwanted cooked food waste. And there’s a pile of leaf litter turning slowly into leaf mould.

Composting can happen in many guises. I wish more people embraced it in their own lives. We live in an exceptionally wasteful world fast losing our natural biodiversity. #Compost #Composting #NoDig #SoilHealth #Gardening #Allotment #Solarpunk

A Compost Cup for Britain.

“Can you make the best, the most alive, nutrient-rich compost in Britain?”

Having my homemade compost analysed for its biology and nutrition (and advice on how to improve it) would be interesting.

Unfortunately at £138 per test it is too steep for me. #Composting #SoilHealth #Compost #SolarPunkSunday
