NASA's Perseverance rover spotted a curious rock on Mars, dubbed St. Paul's Bay. Made of tiny rounded stones, it was found in Jezero Crater while searching for ancient life. Scientists are puzzling over its origin.

Out this evening doing some stress testing of our cotton tote bag 🚀🎸

Amazing 😳

It’s not every day that you get name checked on an album that’s number 1 in the UK midweek album charts🙀

Let alone it being a 42 minute, two track prog concept album about the cosmic perspective that considering the vastness of space brings to our ephemeral lives ✨

Kudos to Steven Wilson for the stunning music – it’s a privilege to be involved along with my good friend, @alexandermilas 🙇‍♂️

Coming at 1800CET/1700GMT today: conversation about Jeff Wayne’s “The War of the Worlds” as it goes out on tour & the possibility of life on Mars.

With Sara Russell of the Natural History Museum & me on the science, Dave Rowntree of Blur, Brian Cox, & my co-founder @alexandermilas talking with Jeff about his classic album, plus Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari who’s in the new show.

Was a fun day in London with Alex et al who made the film 🖖🤘

I'm busy with a creative project of my own (more of which soon), but just a quick one to flag the release Steven Wilson's space-inspired album "The Overview" yesterday ✨

I've had it for a few weeks & it's brilliant – immersive epic prog with zero pandering to the nano-attention span, oh so knowing world of streamed sludge 🙇‍♂️

It was a privilege to be part of the album premiere event at the BFI IMAX in London & I'm proud of the connection – thanks, Steven 🖖🤘

In London this week for a few events & meetings, some of which I can't talk about yet (ooh, mystery! 🤪)

But this one's public – I'll be at the British Film Institute this evening for a premiere of Steven Wilson's new space-inspired album "The Overview", with visuals on the IMAX screen.

We'll have a panel discussion after with Steven, the film maker Miles, my ESA colleague Miho, & my compadre, Alex.

Tonight is sold out, but there are more dates in Europe before the album tour 🖖🤘

Even if last night’s New Year’s Eve show on BBC One was an “awkward & breathless mess”, you at least have to applaud the set decoration team for their impeccable taste 😘

Looking forward to “The Overview”, the new album from our friend Steven Wilson, prog musician & producer extraordinaire, & his 2025 tour 🎶

Inspired by the perspective gained by looking down at Earth from space or outward into the cosmos, & as you’ll see, a conversation that started with Space Rocks 🖖🙂🤘

Heads up (literally, if you’re in the South Pacific) 👀

At ~18:48UTC / 20:48CEST tomorrow, 8 Sep, the first of the four ESA Cluster II satellites, Salsa, will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere, bringing an effective end to the constellation’s 24-year mission to probe our magnetosphere & its interactions with the solar wind.

I’ll be back at ESOC in Darmstadt, helping film this sad but celebratory moment for a documentary coming soon from 🖖🤘

I’ll be back there with & our friend Steven Strait aka James Holden of will be too 🦠

Ha – that’s no asteroid 🤪

Rewatching S1 of from 2016 & am further reminded how obviously influenced the production team was by Rosetta’s adventures at Comet 67P/C-G over the preceding two years 🙂👍

What goes around comes around though, as at , we’ve since worked with Dominique Tipper, Steven Strait, Shohreh Aghdashloo, & the writers, James SA Corey 🙂

Stay tuned for more science meets science fiction 🖖🤘
