Fragments of Energy – More Mind Bending Concepts!
Researchers at North Carolina State University have put forward the notion that fragments of energy, not waves and/or particles, could be the fundamental building blocks of the universe.
Here is the concept: energy is always flowing through regions of space and time. Think of energy as made up of lines that fill up a region of space and time, flowing into and out of that region, never beginning, never ending and never crossing one another.
To test the theory the researchers demonstrated that their new theory accurately solved the problems of showing that the curvature of spacetime is caused by the mass of the sun, and that the bending of light occurs as it passes across warped space and time near to the sun. Our understanding of time and its place in physics has often raised new questions rather than providing definitive answers - aka Einstein’s theory of relativity, suggests time and space fuse into a four-dimensional fabric with all all events: past, present, and future coexisting.
New retrocausal interpretations of quantum mechanics, suggest the future might play as big a role as the past in shaping events. 🔭 Marvin Watches a Cube Break Common Sense
If a cube flew past at nearly the speed of light, it wouldn’t look squashed.
It would look… rotated.
Marvin pauses mid-sip of tea.
“That,” he notes, “is not what intuition promised.”
Terrell & Penrose showed (1959) that relativistic motion produces an optical twist, not a squash. Light from different parts of an object reaches the observer at different times, and the brain stitches time into shape.
A new lab experiment made this visible by slowing light with ultrafast lasers. Cubes and spheres appear rotated — exactly as predicted.
Marvin understands the problem immediately;
“You never see the thing,” he says. “You see the story light tells you.”
Nothing changes physically.

philosophically speaking, the coolest thing about relativity is that it explicitly states that time & space have to be jointly defined. space has no meaning without time, and time has no meaning without space.
