I don't think I've seen this in a long, long time, so maybe it should be brought out again.
A spinning wheel made from glass

The floof from earlier is no longer floof. It is a single! I’m really happy with today’s spin.

@randahl Mastodon can't duplicate FB groups (still miss those, but not worth the FB agony).
Try these:

Yarn! I’ve been struggling with this so much. Taking some classes was the right idea. This is my day 1 (3hrs) result. #handspinning #spinningwheel #handspunyarn
First time I've spun in over thirty years. Bought some fleece because I thought I should start spinning again or give away my wheel.
I got carried away with all the colours. I planned to only use this orange as highlights so I thought it didn't matter if I wasted some of it on practice. I genuinely didn't think I'd be able to knit it up!
So happy with the result, I've even started planning a blanket around my practice yarns.
Any hints and tips welcome. I'm spinning on an old Ashford traditional. I thought I had over spun the singles but maybe I under spun them?
#Maine - Want to try something new in the new year? Check out a ‘library of things’
#Libraries are expanding their offerings beyond books and audiotapes, broadening the potential pursuits of patrons.
by Sophie Burchell, January 2, 2026
CUMBERLAND — "If your New Year’s resolution is to try a new hobby — cooking more diverse recipes, taking up knitting or digging into gardening — but you are not yet ready to make a commitment for all of 2026, there is a shelf at the library for you.
"Stacked with items including a #MortarAndPestle, a #SpinningWheel and a #broadfork, the #LibraryOfThings at Cumberland’s #PrinceMemorialLibrary has objects for all types of pursuits ready for patrons to borrow like they would a book.
" 'The tortilla press is quite popular. A lot of people, they want to have a taco party or something, they want to try it out,' said Kelly Greenlee, community outreach librarian at Prince Memorial Library, which serves #CumberlandME and #NorthYarmouthME.
"Categories of 'things' include arts and craft supplies, science and technology devices, health and wellness equipment and home and garden tools. When acquiring items for this collection, librarians look for items that are typically only used once or twice a year, or things that someone would want to test out before they purchase it for themselves. The collection is intended to save library patrons time and money, as well as broaden their horizons — much like books.
" 'It’s designed to encourage people to have a #SharingEconomy, essentially,' said Greenlee. 'Libraries have always been about sharing resources, and it’s really just an extension of that.' "

Got some spinning done today, this is alpaca! Which is the main fiber in my stash.. There's still so much to go. For 2026 I'd like to make a lot more intentional spinning time. We'll see how that goes.
I have a new spinning wheel white whale (white wheel?): the Ettrick Wind Wheel

It's just so damn weird and CUTE. :spinningwheel:
I ended up buying one of these metal carts on wheels and now it holds my daedalus spinning wheel & my knitting bag & whatever else I manage to cram into it. LOVE this thing.
- Bottom is my Hobbii knitting bag (notions, yarn etc)
- Middle is my daedalus spinning wheel + battery + cords
- Top is my current project + swinging yarn holder
- Draped over the handle is my reading wrap
I can swap out so I can use the top to actively spin vs. knit, etc.
Watching the spinning begin - and the "What if's", and "What will it mean for me'"

My psychologist & DJ sides conspired to pop this song into my head.
Same as Sir, it's perfect!

Great song (composition), legendary musicians/band, and most wonderful singer whose name nobody knows (now, anyway).

Progress - one bobbin mostly filled. The first batt was enough to fill one bobbin and the second one to about 2/3.
So this means I'm over the halfway point with the spinning on this yarn.
And there's now also a handspinning fedigroup

This is the beginning of the second of three batts from the same colorway. The turquoise is way greener than in this, but present light doesn't allow for better pictures.
Anyway. I'm spinning it with a lowish twist and aim for a bit to even single that will finally turn into a rustic 2ply. The plan is to weave with the finished yarn

Today, despite the hand pain I have been experiencing.for the last 60 or so hours, I got out my Sheridan Junior spinning wheel. It was a pleasant afternoon. Fleece was from #Ixchel fibers, Oussant, Blue Faced Leicester and silk. My hands hurt but my soul is happy.

Why o why am I thinking of buying yet another #spinningwheel??? I can only spin on one at a time and I already got 4 wheels… (well 2 of them sort of antique)
Tour de Fleece day 21, 22 and 23. Finished the light green, plyed 100 gram of Veluws Heideschaap and almost finished 15 gram of apple green. The TdF has ended but I have another 6 colours to go. And after that every little turtle has to be plyed. So I guess I have to continue spinning during the TdF Femme 😀 #TourDeFleece2025 #HandSpinning #Spinning #SpindleSpinning #handspun #SpinningWheel
