I'm nervous like a school child having uploaded my first mini #zine (after 40 yrs), with my alien caressing #moss and building #mycelium: ko-fi.com/s/700d3d3138 - buying it, you also help me with some ugly bills (see my goal on #kofi).
More about my #zines + how to fold them: cronenburg.net/zines/
Have fun! I'm sketching the next!

@CommonMugwort Fascinating article! I am curious to see how this develops in brain research. #Animism is not tied to #mushrooms, but it is fascinating to see that ancient cultures had their own rituals to focus on different experiences.
I remember well Christian RΓ€tsch, a German ethnologue: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christia In his encyclopedia he wrote also about European #psychoactive plants and fungi.

BTW, here you can find the author Colin Domnauer dentingerlab.org/people/

Here, have some weird fungi.
#shroomstodon #sporespondence

A yellowish brown fungus that looks like s sea sponge, lots of small wavy bits, growing on s tree stump. Under a fern in the background a second fungus of the same type is visible. Sparassis crispa, the app says, or cauliflower fungus (the Dutch name is beter I think: great sponge fungus or grote sponszwam).A group of small, shield like purple fungi growing on a dead birch log. The fungi are a bit blotchy, with darker people spots on s lighter background and a white rim. Some of them are blending into each other. Chondrostereum purpureum, according to my app. Couldn't find an English name, but the Dutch name is purple crust fungus (paarse korstzwam), which is a pretty abusive name I think.Tiny purple fungi that look like little folded buttons, clumped together on a tree stump. Ascocoryne sarcoides sl, incl. cylichnium, the app calls it, of purple jellydisc (paarse knoopzwam in Dutch, purple button fungus).

Proper fairy rings going on in the park. #dogs #fungi #sporespondence

A mulched area in a park. There’s a few plants in it and some trees. Two very prominent rings of fungus each form passable circles about 1.5 m across. Photobombing golden retriever at speed for scale.

color film photo depicting a pair of brown mushrooms growing from the top of a decaying log; the stems have a streaking pattern of darker and lighter sections, while the caps have a mottled, almost scaly appearance; the exposure is slightly high, leaving the areas in direct sunlight blown out while the shadows have more detail visible; the colors are somewhat unnatural due to the use of tungsten balanced film in daylight conditions

color film photo of a small, tan mushroom growing along the border of a low patch of moss and bare sandy soil; there are fallen pine needles strewn about, and a white oak leaf in the background, as well as several larger mushrooms out of focus next to it; the stem of the mushroom has a streaked and slightly shaggy appearance, while the cap is quite smooth; the colors of the whole photo are somewhat strange and unnatural as a result of tungsten balanced film being used in daylight conditions

Yesterday I spotted these two cute shaggy manes, decaying together all huddled up. Looked very poetic.

2/2 new species of a #fungus lived #symbiotic. For billions of years, life on Earth lived solely in water. It was only around half a billion years ago that #plants first started to grow on landopens in a new window – but exactly how these organisms first made that transition has remained a mystery. The discovery adds to a growing body of evidence that #fungi had an important role to play. nph.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/do
