I did it. Three bookcases cleared and removed from the house. #SpringCleaning

When I get home I should be able to clear off another bookcase and get it out of the house, freeing up a bit more space in the dining room so I can actually do more dining there. 😏 #SpringCleaning

Put two old bookcases at the street today with a "FREE STUFF" sign and they were gone the next time I look out the window. Getting rid of a lot of old books today too and rearranging the dining room. #SpringCleaning

A whole bunch going on this week, some of it already in progress.

1. Shop clean out, focus on Tstak and ToughCase organization. #springcleaning in winter!

2. New power supply for WLED holiday lights arrives Tuesday!

3. 5 lights around the house hooked up to @CheerLights #chherlights green

4. Finally ordered a 3d printer.. Hopefully doing more than just printing accessories for a 3d printer. (tstack and ToughCase hacks) #3dprinter

5. Dropping in for lecture at Tech901 to help some new IT workforce members understand the Memphis market and what security is all about #cybersecurityEducation #memphis

Rearranging the flat. I still have a week to myself to make this perfect. Got plans for the "Tower of Doctor Who" (every serial produced from floor to ceiling). The cabinet itself needs dismantling and disposing of, but I have PLANS... the DC/Marvel/Star Wars/Star Trek cabinet is roughly the same size... So I just need to move those over to the shelves in the spare room and rehouse the B5/BSG/80s Horror blu-rays... Maybe I should dispose of some of those Eaglemoss/LEGO boxes 🤔

Organised my clothes for the #clothingSwap at @rewind this sunday! Don’t actually have much i don’t use but hopefully this encourages others and we can start swapping clothes more often and help each other out :) lowkey perfect timing for some #springcleaning

1. Had a tidy out of the bedroom by throwing away the old makeup and bathroom smellies that were crazy old or never going to be used and then rearranged my jumpers so they were no longer on a chair
2. Bought some lovely new socks from Nordic Sock company
3. We also tidied the bathroom a bit and got rid of the empty bottles

It's just really satisying to have time to break down and salvage from old bags and articles of clothing and then organize my sewing boxes. Everything fits neatly into 1 large box with a couple of boxes and bags in it, and one small box. Everything has its place. I love this.

The yearly "Riiiight THAT was the colour of the terrace". 🧹🪣

The first time I cleaned the terrace after moving in it took all day to scrub and scrub again. I used a specialized cleaner. The water was black and the smell of algae was strong. And there were unwanted guests living in one of the beams 🐛

Now it only took two hours to clean. I used regular "green soap" and I even had the energy to give everything a manual scrub to really lift a lot of the grime.

This has been a lesson in patience for me. Restoring old things takes time and regular maintenance is key.

Scrub Buddi™️ is the latest invention sold via JML to daytime TV viewers. I occasionally fall into that category. It's a handle with a motor and a brush attachment; I have a cosmetic one for my face and this is a rough-bristled household-cleaning equivalent.

And I bought one.

This is how I know I'm not immune to propaganda.

With #spring comes #springcleaning which has led to a slight remodeling of the old dryer area (replaced the washer and dryer with a smart heat pump combo unit), and this giant wall-mounted cabinet had to go. Built in 1970, these stickers were placed on the inside of the door by the first owner. This obviously pre-dated adoption of the 911 emergency system being fully adopted in Texas.

I'm going to tear down my home network so I can properly organize and segment my devices, document them, and then I'm going to reconfigure the software stack on my raspberry pi so I can get more bang for my buck. Finally I'm going to physically segment my lab and stand up a learning environment I can share with a few friends who are also learning cyber and sysadmin stuff.
