Nice little spin out to St Andrews in Fife this afternoon. Walked through the town to the Cathedral. Followed by a picnic lunch with sea views. Perfect!

Portrait colour photograph of the ruined St Andrews Cathedral in Fife, Scotland. It was built in 1158 and became the centre of the Catholic Church in Scotland. Grass now covers the ground between the remaining walls and columns. The sea is just visible behind the site. The sky is blue, with high level cloud covering the majority of it.

A pizza place in #StAndrews offers hints on how to split the bill.

Dividing by 6 wasn’t too helpful when two of us were toddlers, but it’s still a good idea.

Bottom of a receipt with the following text:

Amount due
£90.40
No payment received

Division hint
90.40 / 6 = 15.07
15.07 x 2 = 30.13
15.07 x 3 = 45.20
15.07 x 4 = 60.27

Few-flowered leeks (Allium paradoxum) are abundant in #StAndrews and I picked loads last weekend for my 4th #StAndrewsWildFood.

Full of onion flavour, with bulbils that taste of mild garlic, you can eat the whole thing raw or cooked. We used them in fried rice, and I’ve since put some on my beans on toast for a bit of savoury flavour.

Green long-leaved plants with little white flowers, growing in a thick mass in a wood.Wild leeks washed and laid out on a tea towel to dry.Rice, tofu and sweetcorn fried up together on a plate, with bits of green leek visible.

This year I've decided to do as much #foraging as I can in and around #StAndrews and see if I can make anything worth eating.

I'll tag posts with #StAndrewsWildFood and see how many things I can pick and eat before the end of the year.

How did #UnivofStAndrews benefit from, participate in, or support, British colonialism? Our report 'The University of St Andrews and the legacies of empire, 1700-1900' is now available legacies-of-empire.wp.st-andre

The detail of our findings may be of most interest to those closely associated with #standrews #Fife and #Tayside, or #Scotland; but I hope that our approach will be of interest to a wider audience. #history #histodons

Some of my earliest B&W photographs taken in #StAndrews, #Scotland. At that time I was using Ilford XP2, since I learned developing my own film only later.
