@gedankenstuecke really nice and interesting article. It made me think about where active members vote to elect new moderators, and there is a "meta-discussion" where some decision-making topics are covered, although I think not related to the directions the product could take.

On #StackOverflow, when a question starts with "I'm working on a project", in 99% of cases this means "Please implement this project for me".

Reminds me of How To Draw An Owl. They provide the circles and expect others to draw the rest of the f*cking owl.

I'm so tired of this 😩

#StackOverflow "experts" closed _again_ a perfectly valid #rexams question...

...already edited _and_ answered by me

...pleading for feedback rather than closing in the comments

...to no avail. This is so frustrating. 😭

@azzale Yes, you right. I guess it depends on the task.

> if a new vulnerability is found

The chance that you have more security issues in your own implementation is higher. Not sure if that comparison is valid for AI.

> is alright as long as you understand most of what the AI wrote

Right. This problem existed before were a thing. Copy & Paste from is the same problem, I guess.

I've just had a email newsletter from #StackOverflow. Never had that before. Don't use it. The site is full of outdated and bad advice. Unsubscribed!

A historical moment - I can't open #StackOverflow ... I hope it's something in my network as I've never seen that before.

This year's #StackOverflow developer survey is mostly an opportunity to write 'Fuck AI' in most of the free text boxes. And for the grand finale, 'To many fucking questions about fucking AI. Fuck AI.' stackoverflow.az1.qualtrics.co #FuckAI

Friends of #rstats and #StackOverflow this is becoming a habit but I need your help _again_ to re-open an #rexams question.

I had explained that the difference is important: graded vs. ungraded open-ended questions in NOPS exams. Someone flagged it as duplicate nevertheless.

If you have an account on Stack Overflow, there is a survey active right now. It is worth to fill, even if you are not using SO on a regular basis.

@stackoverflow.com surely wants to fade into oblivion. In >10 years using this site I’ve never experienced such hostility than in my latest two questions asked. (stackoverflow.com/q/79650530/1)

If search results point me to it – fine. But I will never interact with the site again. Hello, @reddit, hello -based Q&A tools.

Go the way of , Stackexchange!

Great article on the downfall of StackOverflow. I was a big user (and contributor) back in the day, but I got frustrated when I started seeing most of my questions being closed as off-topic even though I really put a lot of effort into making them well structured. It seems like I intuitively saw the trend in the article.

I don't know how true this is, but I do know that my attempt to answer a question was met with an accusation that I was an AI (I deleted my answer, I decided that no-one deserved to see it after that accusation)

"AI didn’t kill Stack Overflow"
"How the groundbreaking developer forum moderated itself into oblivion."

The original Stack Overflow was great. A few years after being sold in June 2021, they started feeding our questions & answers to OpenAI. They did it whether we wanted them to or not, giving us no options to opt-out or delete our data.

Now they have the gall to demand end users verify they are human, presumably because they don't want other unscrupulous entities scraping their website and monetizing our questions and answers.

Fuck them.

I hope they go bankrupt and die.
