#Degoogling update: I’ve installed #vivaldi with maxed out privacy setting on my devices with #startpage as my default search engine. Much improved experience. Vivaldi seems less resource intensive than #firefox and it seems to have completely killed all ads on #Youtube, which claims back some of my life (60 second ads on 3 minute videos is a joke, yes I’m aware YT is Google owned).

I'm fairly confident now that @StartpageSearch has actually permanently blocked at least the aforementioned Tor exit node of @f3n, because every time #Startpage responded with “403 Forbidden” in recent weeks, I was in fact connected to that exit node.

Establishing a new #Tor circuit always fixed the issue.

It's fine for a moment, and then I hit the button to go to the next page of results and everything reverts to default. Which I hate.

Does anyone know of a search engine that doesn't have that much AI slop? I've been using DDG, but results have been getting bad of late. Finding a website I recognize is hard. I stopped using startpage under concern that it was using google's increased water from AI. But yeah.

At the same time, something with too obscure of answers might not work for my job. So I dunno.

💡 Très intéressante vidéo de @lecrivainsf sur les moteurs de recherche alternatifs à #Google. Bien qu'aucun ne soit parfait, ils existent et les utiliser à la place de Google contribue à effriter au gré du temps l'hégémonie du géant américain. Gwên revient d'abord sur ce que sont les moteurs indépendants, les méta-moteurs et les moteurs hybrides. #Startpage is once again blocking me for using #Tor, this time via the exit node https://hostslick02-tor-exit.tuxli.org (78.142.18.219), by redirecting me to http://localhost … 🙄

Same for https://tor-exit-3.zbau.f3netze.de (185.220.100.254).

These IP-based blocks appear to be permanent, because even after three days, the latter Tor exit node is still blocked.

久しぶりに #DuckDuckGo 使ってたけど、Safe Search を Strict に設定しても、検索結果にいかがわしい広告に溢れたサイトとかが結構出てきてしまうな…
#Ecosia とか #StartPage とかは #Google をソースに検索結果作ってる事もあってか、特に日本語の検索結果でもそういう部分はそれなりに望ましい結果になっている印象。
#DuckDuckGo はもともとその昔は日本語検索にも若干難があった（結果に出てくる文字が異様に少ないみたいな表示問題）時もあったし、気長に改善待つしかないんだろうけど、こういう感じだととりあえずデフォルト検索エンジンは #Ecosia に戻すか…
