Projekt 'Erster Pulli' läuft ganz gut. Wird etwas weiter sein als geplant, aber das war zu erwarten, da die Maschenprobe auch eine Spur größer war. Rundstricknadeln sind hier nur in wenigen Stärken vertreten und Anpassungen vornehmen trau ich mir noch nicht zu. Gemütlicher Oversize Pulli :) Farblich muss etwas improvisiert werden, da nur wenige Knäuel jeder Farbe da sind. Aber sollte tragbar werden ;*)

Week 3: Frantically casting on…

…and jumping from one project to another. I´m not there, i don´t know any people who live there personally ( i know some podcaster who live there, and i´m hoping they are safe) and still i´m so anxious and appalled of what is happening, and as an austrian, what could be happening next.
What i´m not is shocked, because the path those in power were (and are) willing to take, was quite clear from the beginning. What i gathered from social media is, that many people are still in denial, some even in favor of what is happening. And to be clear, if you are one of those, please refrain on commenting or interacting with me or this blog. This little place is not meant for you, i don´t want you here.

This week i jumped from one sewing project to another, the same with knitting. I knitted a few cm more on my Attractive Box Coat for Spring and on my Elegant Suit. I haven´t uploaded any new photos yet.

I started a new sock project. For Christmas i got a little booklet with lots of sock pattern in it. Even ones for DK weight yarn, which was exciting for me, because i never knitted socks in DK. The booklet is from TOPP Verlag and the title is “ Neue Socken to go- einfach gestrickt“. The problem with most sock pattern for me is, that they end up much to big with the given sts and needle size.

For this sock pattern i casted on 48 sts on a 3mm DPN, the sock doesn´t start with a ribbing, but with one row knit and one row purl, which you have to repeat for a few rows. After a while i could see, that this ended up much too big. I tried a few times with smaller needles and less sts.

I ended up with 2,5mm/2,75mm DPN and 40 sts. (One of the needles is 2,75mm, because apparently i lost one of my 2,5mm). Which is strange, because normally i´m a tight knitter.

That´s why most of the time i just knit vanilla socks, because this kind of happens a lot.

I have five balls of the yarn i use for the socks and i probably use up about 2 for the pair. So yesterday i looked in my Favourites list on Ravelry, to see what i can also make from it.

I queued the Headband with a twist by Mirella Moments and the Point Edwards Mitts by Fairlight Fibers. But that is not enough, i probably will cast on another new project today. The Convertible scarf or cap by Weldons with some leftover yarn i have in my stash.

I also continued with the mock-up for my jacket i drafted. It does look decent already, but i will be adding some pockets. I´m not sure which kind of pockets, i´ll have to try out some ideas. I still have to hand sew in the shoulder pads. Add the facing to the collar + sew down the zipper. After that, i will have to cut out the lining and so on and on. Yep, still a lot to do. And then repeat it again.

I´m also drafting the shirt pattern i was talking about, but that will have to wait till i finish the jacket.
