I am just porting 3.8 `ipaddress` to 3.4, and after couple of hours of working with #Gemini on it, it suggested a fix for something else (port of `functools.cached_property`) with f-strings. Just, D'Oh!

@dougmerritt Besides occasional 3888.9% performance gains (courtesy of @vbabka), there are also serious regressions in every release. You may read about making something go faster, but that usually misses all the other scenarios that go slightly slower. These small cuts tend to accumulates over time…

You know, for bugs there's at least syzbot, but AFAIK there's no bot to monitor performance. It's only some companies running some benchmarks. Like my team at #SUSE.

It seems like #SUSE celebrates #pridemonth by hiring. This time a position in the Performance Team, and yes, that's my team (though I'm not the manager). Let's work together to make the kernel fast again!

Personally, i'm allergic to anything-Suse, because my 1st employer MADE ME deal with #Suse …i guess, it was a #MadeInGermany kinda thing …despite me having extensive experience in doing it the #Debian way …i'd never dealt with #YAST before …where d'fuq are my conf files …i can't configure #Apache, using YAST! …i muddled through, eventually. 😅 *sigh*

edit: that happened over 10 years ago - funny enough, they just dropped YaST, it seems 🤣
