Spot the #Subharmonicon

Because I'm stuck in Europe this winter, I finally have enough time to start and finish old and new projects, here is one of them.

I spent some time watching video tutorials to figure out what many people do with their semi-modular Moog synthesisers. Cosmic and ambient music, synthpop, post-punk, electro, techno, house, and so on.

I’d planned to wait several months before picking up a #Subharmonicon. Then when #moog announced they are laying off much of their US staff and moving most manufacturing to Asia, I decided it was time to pounce.

Subh is exactly as folks described it: capricious, sometimes amazing sounding, sometimes bad sounding, and always lots of fun. Most people seem to be using it for #ambient but I’m keen to try some #techno.

the sonoclast MAFD can be mounted on the outside of the #moog #dfam #subharmonicon rail rack thingies with some slightly longer 6-32 1" machine screws. 3/4" might work, too. 📷

Studio #iteration 2. Shifted Push controller between the #moog #subharmonicon & #DFAM and the #modular palette. Making a bit more ergonomic sense after trying some work yesterday. Sadly that old apple keyboard (17 years old) has decided a few keys including the shift & space button won’t work. The old apple Cinema Display if same vintage is still going strong. Compared to modern displays I find it easier on the eye for working.

Iteration 1 of studio reset. Not quite doing it. Started to jam a little and found I’ll need to shift things around a bit.

Anyway. Nice to start exploring the #moog #DFAM #Subharmonicon together with some #modular. Like the idea of slow evolving lines with scratchy beats. Must not move dials/patching as I shift gear around as I like where this might go.
