Thrilled by seeing Speedy Ortiz live for the first time last night! Super fun and energetic show in London''s sparkly MOTH Club. As well as the fun the band had important messages about organising and unionising and showing support for Palestine.

The sensational Fatoumata Diawara in London's KOKO last night.

I have seen her several times yet she still astonishes me with her singing, playing, energy, stage presence, and charisma.

Took a punt on the unfamiliar to me Clockwinders in the Green Note's intimate basement bar last night and had a great time with their blend of country, jazz, and swing.

You can't go with the the Green Note!

Noisy and badly exposed photo of 3 musicians. A women is playing an acoustic guitar and men are playing upright bass and electric guitars.

Previously having seen Jo Quail play support slots several times it was a real treat to witness a full hour of her extraordinary compositions, for cello and loop pedals, and virtuoso playing at OSLO Hackney on Friday.

Also very much enjoyed guitar genius Jon Gomm's set and their collaboration pieces at the end.

So great to witness the marvellous Sarabeth Tucek (SBT) perform all of her 2023 release 'Joan Of All' in The Waiting Room on Tuesday. An intimate and powerful performance in a small room to a rapt audience. She deserves bigger!

No support and live music starts at 20:00h. An early night I thought as I waited in the Jazz Cafe last night for Dele Sosimi to get started. That was not to be as the Afrobeat legend and his band played non-stop for a whole 3 hours! Not even an encore break! A very enjoyable night of fantastic music and long songs. Just 14 numbers filled those 180 minutes.

First gig of the year done yesterday! A lovely evening of sultry soulful jazz in the cosy, welcoming, and intimate Green Note Basement Bar with singer/songwriter Scarlett Fagan and pianist Jay.
No doubt the first of my many visits this year to my very favourite venue!

I need a faster wide lens as as lovely as that space is there is little light.

Scarlett Fagan singing into a microphone on a stand. She is wearing a black dress with her hands clasped against her chest. To her right a pianist is playing an upright piano. The scene is dark and underexposed due to the only lighting being a few small lamps hanging above the musicians and my wide lens being too slow.Head and shoulder of Scarlett Fagan singing into a microphone on a stand. A glass lamp hangs above her providing little illumination. In the background the purple velvet curtains of the Green Note basement bar.Scarlett Fagan holding a microphone to her mouth. She is wearing a black dress with her shoulders bare. Her eyes are closed as she feels her music.
