Wee one had gone home to his mam this afternoon. Out of the last 10 day he was here for eight of them. So husband and I decided to celebrate with a leisurely roundabout walk with a plan to have coffee on the way back.
Well, we were almost at the cafe when we saw a big gorgeously ecstatic dog bounding up to us. We then heard a man, who we couldn't see, calling the dog back. Man came out of a house and dog eagerly started following us so we stopped and waited.
Every time the man came close to the dog, the dog sidestepped him and trotted a few feet away.
Treats were offered, sticks were thrown, but dog definitely didn't want to have his fun curtailed with his harness on so he kept galloping a short distance away excitedly waiting for the next game of catch me if you can.
Every time we moved the dog would come with us. Dog was having so much fun.
Man explained that it wasn't his dog but his son's that he was minding. Eventually husband and I sat on the grass and I was able to lasso dog with my scarf.
Man came over and put the harness on dog while I held on and dog licked my face in gratitude because we'd all had a lovely fun time together (except for poor man of course).
Man and dog turned back in the direction of the house (half a block away by this time) and husband and I continued on our way for our much deserved coffee.
