This random dart-throw purchase has turned out to be quite the education for your friendly neighborhood Vinyl Ape.
This was recorded and released in Kuwait in 1980.
It is incredibly funky, with monster drums and powerful horns, all played expertly by a group of insane Sudanese musicians.
Apparently, originals of this record are a bit of a holy grail, fetching upwards to over a thousand dollars (!) online.
This reissue was produced by using a clean copy of an original, as the original reel to reel tapes were lost when Bakr had to flee Kuwait during the second gulf war.
The book is really cool; full of extensive liner notes and information to help newbies like me get up to snuff on this fantastic record and incredible musicians.
I can’t recommend this enough.
