It's still a bit wild to me that heat stress is dangerous enough that ice baths are recommended for first aid if patient conscious!

2014: walked down to the top Wentworth Falls lookout with a baby and a 4yo at 42°C and didn't think to take any water down. Looked out at several fires burning on the ridges and was like "well, I guess we better walk back up decently quick". Drove out of the mountains just before they closed the road to Sydney. Fun little story.

2025: 40°C forecast. Spending hours freezing bottles of Powerade, circulating the Cricket Australia heat stress tools, generally prepping type behaviour.

Can't really say what changed, I just don't like to mess around with heat stress now.
