#T1D

Last night I dreamed I was eating a white bread English muffin. It was dry and had an unpleasant grainy texture. Don’t worry, I counted the carbs and dosed insulin in my dream. My carb estimate of 29 grams was pretty close, considering this is not a food I’ve eaten since being diagnosed with diabetes and also I was asleep.

Had a #dexcom #g7 #cgm sensor that wouldn’t pair this morning, then found this post:

Worked like a charm!

My local edit to #nightscout is still working well (no timestamp errors I can see), so today I:
• exported #dexcom #CGM entries & #tconnectsync treatments to date (20 days)
• wrote a script to:
- check a txt file for the last pull time
- pull everything since & save to a .json in a #linux server directory
- update the txt file w/ new pull time
• created a cron job to run the script every Sat @ 2am
• Mapped the server folder to my windows machine so I can do #DataAnalysis w/ #python / #R

Glu Sight Appglusightapp
2026-02-21

We’ve just submitted a new glusightapp update.
This one focuses on smoothing out everyday friction:
→ More stable onboarding with fewer edge cases
→ No more form resets when the keyboard dismisses
→ Cleaner, more reliable Settings and Support navigation

Under the hood, we’ve also hardened HealthKit sync and first-run reliability.

Rolling out soon.

Smartphone screenshot displaying a notification center with three app update alerts. The apps are "Blood Sugar Tracker: Glu Sight," "GLP-1 Tracker & Weight: Glypp," and another "Blood Sugar Tracker: Glu Sight," each indicating status changes. The time is 10:52 on Saturday, February 21, with icons for Wi-Fi and battery at the top. A "Show less" option and a "Demo" button with a camera icon are at the bottom.

OK, this is cool stuff. This morning, glusightapp pointed something out: I tend to run low more often between 4–6pm.

It’s obvious in hindsight, but seeing it clearly called out changed how I’m planning that part of my day.

That’s the whole point of the insights engine I built in: actionable information I can use right away.

Below, "Today" header followed by two purple boxes: "Glucose Average" at 115 mg/dL and "Within Target" at 100%. Lower section highlights "Low Glucose Pattern" with text about frequent lows between 4pm-6pm and 13 hypoglycemic readings in the past week. Background is a blue grid pattern.

Glu Sight has evolved a lot over the last few releases.

Highlights:
– Glucose trends over 7–90 days (avg, TIR, variability)
– Glucose-only mode if you don’t use insulin, the UI adapts
– Much better Apple Health sync (setup, background updates, gaps)
– Improved onboarding
– German localization 🇩🇪

Built by someone using it daily to manage diabetes.

I've been closely following the quest for cell therapy "cures" for type 1 diabetes ever since my son was diagnosed with the disease 25 years ago.

Here's an excellent update on research from my friend Paul Heltzel:

Eventyret starter i baghaven ❄️✨

Nogle gange venter de største oplevelser ikke langt væk.

Minus 12,5 grader. Sneen knitrer under støvlerne. Og så – som et grønt slør hen over himlen – nordlyset.

Det var en perfekt nat at vælge.

Eventyret ikke behøver vente på “det rigtige tidspunkt”.

Det starter i baghaven.

Og næste skridt? Det bliver større. 🌌

Why... why does the #nightscout web UI not have a way to save preferences? Each time I open it, I have to set the way I want my basal rates displayed (or they don't show), that I want to see basal rates >0.1u rather than >0.5u, and that I don't want any alarms (found this out the hard way on a call the other day!).

Why do I have to do this *every time*?

I have accomplished nothing today I *needed* to do, BUT:

1. I figured out why my #ubuntu server went wonky last night w/ ssh & several #docker containers inaccessible on the LAN. Turns out you shouldn't set ports & then network_mode to auto. Oh & I had configured UFW w/o making a rule to leave those ports open. Ha.

2. I GOT #NIGHTSCOUT TO PULL #DEXCOMSHARE DATA! Now all my #insulin, BGs, carbs, everything is in ONE place! OMFG I am so excited.

@NinjaNia I suspect you wear a CGM. You could set the Rise alerts at a lower value. It would serve as a sort of reminder if you eat without bolusing (but could get really annoying really fast too :-> ). Some pumps are also more aggressive at detecting unbolussed lunches and will autocorrect for you in case you forgot (I know Medtronic does, but there are others — we don't use Medtronic so I have no personal experience).

I'm struggling with advocating for accessibility on Fedi. (Question at the bottom)

It is difficult because I know what it's like to forget important things. I have #T1d and #ADHD and a few nights ago I FORGOT my dinner insulin. I'm human. My husband has ADHD and we almost lost our health insurance because he kept forgetting about open enrollment.

I get it.

There is no reminder here for me to promote. Is there a bot that taps you on the shoulder if you forget? How can I help people remember to care about those of us who need it? Obvs I'm a small account that no one notices so an option would be to grow my account but I've never been good at that because I don't want that. That is added stress.

I'm still new. What are some good accessibility tools on here? Please help me help others.

I’ve shipped a new Trends feature in Glu Sight.

Instead of single numbers, it shows how your glucose is actually moving over time, across multiple horizons, with clear direction and deltas.

It’s designed to be understandable at a glance, without needing to be an expert.

#CGM readings still aren’t syncing to #Nightscout via #tconnectsync, so that may be a dead end.

As an alternative I tried to set up #dexcom2nightscoutsync, but it requires a #dexcom developer account (which I created) and an upgrade to access/use data. I put a request in for the upgrade but haven’t heard jack since then, so that path is in limbo…

I just want my GD data.
