#TDWG2023

I’ve written a report on my recent experiences at the Biodiversity Information Standards Conference #TDWG2023 Many thanks to Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand #WANZ for the funding to attend. Unsurprisingly it was #Wikidata that was frequently mentioned and discussed during the conference. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:A

Good Meeting in Hobart. Heard lots of fun things that people are doing. With the working sessions separated out, lots less standards progress, but did get sorted out to use dwc:scientificNameID instead of dwc:taxonID to point to other people's identifiers of taxon records in flat Darwin Core. Got to meet some people I'd only been interacting with on line. Now out exploring some biology and geology of Tasmania with Arthur Chapman.

View of Hobart from kunanyi/Mt Wellington. Green stunted alpine vegetation (krumholtz) in foreground,, columnar jointed dolerite outcrop in middle ground, hazy white buildings of city in background, with blue of water of bay.

Curious *how* we developed Camtrap DP, a model and format for exchanging camera trap data? The slides for my talk are available at bit.ly/camtrap-dp-tdwg-2023.

So many interesting camera trap conversations and use cases here in Hobart with @dhobern and others at @tdwg!

Slides for my talk about B-Cubed are available at bit.ly/tdwg-2023-b-cubed.

Got some great feedback already, people are cleary excited about assigning @gbif occurrence data to spatial grids and making it more analysis-ready. Interested? We have a coming up in April next year!

Had an enjoyable afternoon yesterday presenting at the Biodiversity Information Standards (#TDWG2023) conference. Great to be thinking about exploring #GLAM data across the science/humanities divide. My slides are here: slides.com/wragge/tdwg-2023

Progress is being made! I've finished my draft application for funding to attend the Biodiversity Data Standards (TDWG) conference #TDWG2023 being held in Hobart in October. All I need is the cost of registering for the conference and then I can submit!
Pleased to tick this off from my #ToDo list.

Right, my aim to day is to finish drafting up a funding application to attend the #TDWG2023 conference. I'll submit it once I've got an idea about the conference registration fees, but I can at least get everything else ready to go! tdwg.org/conferences/2023/ #Wikidata #BiodiversityStandards
